On June 20, 2026, at around 2:50 pm, Junta forces carried out an airstrike on Pyin Ma Chaung Village in Thayetchaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, injuring a 22-year-old woman, according to sources from KNU Brigade 4.

Junta forces reportedly used a fighter jet to drop two 250-pound bombs on Pyin Ma Chaung Village, despite there being no active fighting in the area at the time of the attack.

“The bomb landed very close to their house. Only one person was injured. There was no fighting. They are just bombing like this,” said a source close to the KNU Brigade 4 administration.

As a result of the airstrike, Ma Aye Thanda Tun, 22, sustained shrapnel injuries. Her condition is not considered life-threatening, the source said. One house was also damaged in the attack.

According to local sources, Junta forces have been increasing pressure by land, sea, and air on areas controlled by revolutionary joint forces in KNU Brigade 4’s Dawei District, including Thayetchaung Township.

Local residents said fighting remains unstable in several townships, while aerial attacks continue to take place regularly.

“The fighting is still unstable, and airstrikes are happening regularly. They do not check whether the villagers are present. Even when there is no fighting, they bomb wherever they want. Local people no longer know where they can safely flee,” said one displaced resident currently sheltering in Thayetchaung town.

On June 24, Junta forces also attacked Palaw Hpa Hpaw Village in Tanintharyi Township using a gyrocopter. On June 26, they dropped four 250-pound bombs near the Phoe Lamine mining area in Heindra Village Tract, Dawei Township, according to a KNU statement. The statement did not include information about civilian casualties from those airstrikes.

On the afternoon of June 19, 2026, three members of the same family were struck by a landmine explosion while searching for vegetables near their plantation in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region. One woman was killed and two others were injured, according to local sources.

The victims were from Lae Taung Yar Village. They had gone into a forested area near their plantation to gather vegetables during the rainy season when the landmine exploded.

“They said it happened a short distance from their home. Because it is the rainy season, they had gone to collect vegetables. The mother was the one who stepped on the mine. Among the two injured people, the young woman suffered more serious injuries,” said a local source familiar with the incident.

Daw Kyu Kyu Khine, 36, was killed in the explosion. Her son, Maung Hein Htet Aung, 15, sustained shrapnel injuries across his body, while her niece, Ma Nan Maw Lin, 22, suffered a severe injury to her left hand.

The two injured victims are currently receiving treatment at Tanintharyi Township Public Hospital. According to local sources, their injuries are not considered life-threatening. It has not yet been confirmed which armed group planted the landmine. However, local residents said that military Junta forces have been active in the area.

Junta Airstrikes in Maungdaw and Gwa Injure Six Civilians, Damage Homes and Public Facilities

At least six civilians, including two Grade-12 students, were injured in separate airstrikes carried out by the Military Commission Air Force in Maungdaw and Gwa townships over the past two days, according to local sources.

In Maungdaw Town on June 24, at around 11:40 a.m., a junta jet fighter dropped two 500-pound bombs near the Border Areas Youth Development School between Wards 5 and 7. The explosions injured two Grade-12 students and damaged more than 10 homes belonging to Hindu families. Windows in four school dormitories were shattered, and bomb fragments struck several buildings.

A local resident said the attack occurred during heavy rain, leaving residents little warning before the explosions.

Meanwhile, in Gwa Township, a junta jet fighter carried out two bombing runs on Kankaw Taung Village at approximately 10:18 p.m. and 10:27 p.m. on June 23. Four civilians were injured in the attack, which struck near a Christian church and a school.

The airstrike also damaged two civilian homes and an ambulance, while two cattle were killed.

The latest incidents are part of a continuing series of junta airstrikes across Rakhine State. On June 17, junta aircraft bombed multiple locations in Kyauktaw Town, reportedly killing eight civilians and injuring 19 others.

At approximately 10:00 am on June 14, 2026, the 306th Artillery Regiment, based on the east bank of Maw Tone Village, #Tanintharyi Township, launched a drone attack on the west bank of Maw Tone Village, dropping four bombs into the area.

“The Junta army used drones and dropped bombs in the morning. There were four bombs. A motorbike beside the village road was destroyed,” said a local man.

At around 5:00 pm on the same day, Junta forces again attacked the west bank of Maw Tone Village, firing a 120-mm artillery shell that destroyed one house.

The attacks continued the following morning. Between 8:00 am and 9:00 am on June 15, Junta forces fired four more 120-mm artillery shells into the west bank of Maw Tone Village. The explosions caused fires that burned and destroyed four additional houses.

“The army conducted an aerial patrol before dropping the bombs. About four houses caught fire. The sound was very loud when the attack started. No one dared to go outside. Everyone was lying down inside their houses. The walls of some homes cracked, roofs were damaged, and some houses caught fire,” said a Maw Tone villager.

Local residents said the west bank of Maw Tone Village is currently under the control of joint revolutionary forces. As a result, Junta forces have frequently launched artillery and drone attacks into the area, putting civilians and their homes at constant risk.

The repeated attacks have caused fear among villagers, who continue to live under the threat of drone surveillance, artillery shelling, and damage to civilian property.
