This has nothing to do with “student protests over the conditions of their education.” 😤 This is simply an appetite for violence directed at capitalism and the authorities.
I condemn this in the strongest possible terms, especially the widespread looting. These criminal acts must have serious consequences, and I fully support decisive law enforcement action against all forms of criminal behavior. Otherwise, France risks tearing itself apart.
I’ll be in Paris next week to see the situation for myself, and I sincerely hope that guests of Art Basel and its side events won’t suffer from this violence as well.
@R_mferism Thanks, my friend. Normally, I would stay away from all of this, but art is simply too important to me. Everything is already booked, so I’ll go. But it just doesn’t feel right to visit a place where so many idiots seem determined to ruin things for everyone else.
Dear french protesters, know your actions are giving the far right government power
If that is your intent so be it, all well and good then, but if you think you ever get a "left wing" government after all of this you are sadly mistaken
Other option, just overthrow government.
@PanterXhita True? by changing your name you also lose a part of the history, don´t you think? I really loved the name. Camila Kaese sounds a little bit funny in German. ☺️do you have german roots?
I have to agree with @osseneth here. But I think the reasons go much deeper than that.
From my perspective, @pudgypenguins have nothing to do with art. It’s a community built around a toy company. Nothing more, nothing less.
Now take a moment to think about that. What kind of value does such a community actually create? Where does that value come from? And perhaps most importantly, what is it really worth?
I genuinely believe Adam means well here, and supporting a community you love is admirable. 🖤
But a floor held up by one wallet isn’t a recovery. Small collectors who buy in on this signal will be the ones left holding when the support isn’t there anymore.
