Texas is America's leader in wind and solar power. But instead of bragging about it, Texas Republicans are going after clean energy with regulatory and tax burdens. As @FromaHarrop points out it’s likely due to their co-dependance with oil and gas.

The Parallel Between Jefferson Davis and Donald Trump: They're Unrepentant.
His trial was quietly shelved, Jefferson Davis was 'free to spin the story into a “lost cause.” ... Now imagine Trump’s take on our era, should he get a pass.'

Employers across the US are more transparent about pay in order to stay competitive with companies in states that require employers to post salary ranges, experts say. A tight labor market and significant increase in remote work have also contributed.

With yet another mass shooting you’d think that resistance would fade, and meaningful solutions would be forthcoming. But no, to some the deaths of children are acceptable collateral damage so they can cling to their guns. My latest. #2A#guns#guncontrol

Virginia Governor #GlennYoungkin is taking us back in time; to 1902. Youngkin announced he will no longer automatically restore people's voting rights. Youngkin will do it on an individual basis.
How often is that going to happen?

Despite so many conflicting feelings those days, Iraqi souls were fueled by hope, decades of tyranny were over; we supposedly were reaching the end of the tunnel, but what was a bright light at the end turned out to be a flare of a forthcoming hell. #Iraq

#Cigna doctors regularly reject patient's claims without even opening their files. “We literally click and submit... it takes all of 10 seconds to do 50 at a time," said one former company doctor.

The red wave failed to materialize. We have momentum. Yes, get motivated to recruit someone to run against Sinema as a Democrat in Arizona. Be pissed. Be angry. But be smart. Being positive is smart politics.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams proposed moving 250K NYC municipal retirees from real Medicare to Medicare Advantage plans. This which would essentially funnel millions of US tax dollars through a private health insurer for the benefit of who, exactly? #healthcare

For the past decade, Michigan’s elections were held under maps enacted in 2011 by a Republican-led Legislature and governor. Those districts gave Republican candidates one of the largest advantages in the nation.
But not anymore. end #gerrymandering

Don't believe in systemic #racism? Or that the roots of racist practices like redlining still impact black and brown communities?
The upshot? #Internet providers give the worst offers to the least white neighborhoods.

@amandagranb3rry@egrattan @chriswpete @charlesyeager44@JPDaley175@GrassrootsSpeak We need to re-establish the #FairnessDoctrine and update it for modern media.
“One area to examine would be the algorithms that stream an unsolicited mono-culture of content across our feeds, often amplifying viewpoints without balance.”

@SisterRay13@JimDenny52@theWesleyJSmith@debrajsaunders Ah, the “other people’s money” argument. Saunders isn’t a chump because she paid off her student loans. If she’s a chump, it’s because she bought into a failed economic ideology that will bailout corporate malfeasance over individuals who fell for a Ponzi scheme.
@LucasBrownEyes Always hard to tell how serious people are in a Twitter post and I don’t game. But I think we need a different kind of social media, one that limits inputs. And not one that defaults to amplification through algorithm.
This implies that a lot of the benefits of the debt relief plan are going to JDs, or MDs, or MBAs, such that excluding them could have substantially lowered the cost of the plan.
Is that actually the case? Luckily there is useful data on this. The answer is no. 1/

#ElonMusk often portrays himself as a maligned man of the people but his record reveals he’s hardly a populist ally. In 2019, Musk broke CA labor laws trying to prevent workers from unionizing & Tesla omitted 100s of injuries from its workplace reports.
