My thoughts on 'Trump II and Europe's (centre-)right'. I hope I am not overestimating the ability of either side to engage with the other in the interest of Europe, the US and the transatlantic relationship, and despite obvious differences. But perhaps I am...
🇺🇸 Trump II and Europe’s (centre-)right. 🇪🇺
A second #Trump presidency could redefine #transatlantic relations. 🔍Can Europe’s centre-right engage constructively with Trump’s leadership? Read this blog by @FedeReho.

La miglior soluzione per l'integrazione europea è quella di un federalismo anti-centralistico e sussidiario
Un modello da cui l'UE si è discostata, viste le tendenze all’interventismo e alla regolamentazione

"The #EU lacks an administrative model. #Subsidiarity may help to fill this gap by recognising that the EU is not about delegating tasks but about managing interdependence between the member states."

#Memories On June 12, 2017, we launched the #EuropeOutLoud series with @FedeReho. This was our 1st-ever podcast and today, 5 years later, the episode's topic is still very timely and interesting: '#Islamism: A Western Political Ideology?' Listen & comment! https://t.co/ImMeh0irIi
This report's findings are important to shape a realistic #future4Europe.We distinguished areas where there is popular support for stronger unity (protection from external threats) from areas where this is absent (e.g. moral disagreements).I hope it gets the attention it deserves
It was an honour to discuss @EP_President's vision for the future of European #democracy at #EPPRotterdam. Key takeaways: believe in our democratic values, defend them against aggressive authoritarian powers, strenghten the #EuropeanParliament and empower the youth.
.@RobertaMetsola: "The is a world before the 24th of February, and a world after. Whether it is about #Energy, #Environment, all of our discussions at the #EPPRotterdam centre around a democratic country that is fighting for values that we all share, they are fighting our war."
My latest op-ed for @EURACTIV. I argue that 70 years after the signing of the #EDCtreaty, we can still learn from it on at least three things: the organisation of the Atlantic Alliance, German rearmament and EU federalism @MartensCentre https://t.co/9bWlJBRkH0
Interesting argument. In the #EU we have a tendency to come up with procedural solutions (e.g. #QMV in foreign policy) to substantive problems (e.g. fundamental strategic disagreements in foreign policy). Unfortunately, these seldom work and could even be counterproductive
An opinion piece I wrote for @POLITICOEurope where I argue that, contrary to conventional wisdom, abolishing unanimity would not solve the problems of EU foreign policy and instead create quite a few new ones.

Interesting piece on #Hungarianelections, which #Fidesz won by an unexpected landslide. Offering sober(ing) evidence and good strategic advice while avoiding the emotional wishful thinking so widespread on the topic
