Institutional adoption of blockchain technology. Like any other technology, is complicated.

Not cos of the costing, but because of compliance to multiple standards, security, management, DevOps, infrastructure, audits, surveillance, ISO2022, to name just a few. Not to mention building and testing the interfaces between legacy/existing systems and the blockchain.

XRPL is just a blockchain, it is not compliant with anything (including ISO20022), the is just the DLT stack.

So if a company wants to say adopt DLT, it's not just about picking XRPL, Stella, HBAR. Etc. This is just a small part of it.

When you pile on the costs, the business case becomes far less attractive, with high risk, uncertainty and delay.

Now in comes Ripple, a company that leverages XRPL at the heart of its solution.

But the difference is, Ripple IS compliant, in every aspect, and meets multiple international banking regulations, and yes they use ISO20022 messaging standards.

So a bank or company simply buys (like a SaaS) this entire solution offering, and pays a simple fee, taking advantage of the economies of scale.

Ripple is an enterprise software company like Salesforce, Oracle, IBM. It is not a blockchain.

So next time someone tries to tell you that "BTC can do cross border payments" remind them that this is only 10% of the required pieces to make it work at a business/banking grade.

Now also add 10 years experience and maturity, you will quickly see they are a competitor that cannot be beaten.

As a software engineer, I often have tough conversations with clients who think they can just hire a couple of offshore developers from New Delhi to build their core system. That is only 10% of a fully operational system.
