I feel this in regards to capitalism and how so much of our species’s history has been dominated by small-minded men with big egos. Crowns have merely been replaced by corporations.
Since learning of the NSA's mass surveillance program, the EU's top court has repeatedly ruled that the "data-sharing agreements" which feed the beast are unlawful end-runs around our human rights.
But each time, the US just stamps another agreement:

While I feel that that the $10k was an empty gesture and a bit patronizing to the growing issues surrounding wealth disparity and accessible education, the backlash is hypocritically deafening when compared to the silence accompanying the regular handouts for companies & the rich
If you're installing spyware to watch your employees, the problem isn't that your employees are untrustworthy. It's that you're an insecure, ineffective boss.
Rereading the trial for Trump's second impeachment, and heavens is it infuriating to see "impartial" senators chatting with Trump's lawyers when we now know those particular senators were involved up to their eyeballs in overturning the election. Gobsmackingly corrupt.
Forced birth in a country with:
—No universal healthcare
—No universal childcare
—No paid family & medical leave
—One of the highest rates of maternal mortality among rich nations
This isn't about "life." It's about control.
If this was about babies, there would be universal healthcare. Free education. Free daycare. Southern states would be doing all they can to drop the Black maternal mortality rate. This is about power and control
Hard to believe, but it looks real. Every serious press freedom group in the world has protested this. It is an appalling symbol of how far the British and American governments' commitment to human rights has declined.
How can we condemn authoritarian abuses abroad like this?
It’s not a win for free speech when Elon Musk owns Twitter.
It’s not a win for journalism when Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post.
It’s not a win for any of us when Mark Zuckerberg owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
It’s a win for billionaires. It’s a win for oligarchy.
@verynormicorn@wheetz@OH_nicole503@KyleSimchuk@KREM2@MilitaryTimes @DeptofDefense The left’s “hateful propaganda”?? Ugh, my guy… did you even read the thread? It wasn’t your hated liberals that were geared up to go raid a public pride event due to ignorance and homophobia. Also, Fox News has said in court themselves that they can’t be believed.

We need a windfall profits tax.
Talking about the early internet before the corporate siloing that so clearly defines it today often sounds like a delusional fever dream - so I find a small amount of solace in having one of the modern internet’s primary innovators confirm that things used to be better.
the days of usenet, irc, the web...even email (w PGP)...were amazing. centralizing discovery and identity into corporations really damaged the internet.
I realize I'm partially to blame, and regret it.
Just because it is this way doesn’t mean it has to stay this way. Remember, cynicism can become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

@_Tom_Henderson_ It’s absolutely bonkers that DICEA continue to project blame for this failure externally… especially on somebody merely reporting on it. Keep up the good work @_Tom_Henderson_ - and thanks for the honesty that they can’t muster.
