#WithTheFireOnHigh was a fun read; @AcevedoWrites builds her characters & worlds thoughtfully,& emboldens them w/powerful vessels & expressions of layered identity. And the book coversπ»
Next on my list is Clap When You Land β have you read it? π

This book. wow. Gorgeous, punchy sentences. Such heaviness throughout, in the best and worst of ways. An incredibly raw, revealing, and reflexive mirror @KieseLaymon holds up for us as individuals/community/nation. Phew!

Donβt be ashamed if youβre tired. We shouldnβt have to fight voter suppression, contend for our postal service, address racist birtherism, assert that Black Lives Matter, appeal for healthcare, work to eradicate poverty, mourn deaths from gun violence, protest police brutality...
Timely essay - interesting premise re why we tend to repeat #historyπ€
What IS even #time these days though!?
βwe donβt experience reality as it is, and then warp it in recall, but that even the first time we live through X, we are already experiencing our warped version of X.β
@VintageAnchor Ah, such a great pile β personal stand-outs are the books by: Toni Morrison, Albert Camus, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Yaa Gyasi, Haruki Murakami, & Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie ππΌπ
@VintageAnchor@penguinrandom The medium by which #stories get shared also perpetuates this power imbalance. We end up missing out on important stories when we give into the myopic elitism of the written medium (or any other single-dimensionality). #Diverse forms of storytelling matter in upsetting the setup.
@blgtylr @alimkheraj @theipaper βMy position in a social context is never stable because I donβt have social capital and I donβt have wealth to maintain my stability across the hierarchy.β
This. The ever elusive stability. Very real.
Looking forward to reading #RealLife; congrats on the #bookerprize nom ππΌ
