A mum to 3 gorgeous boys. A change maker for Indigenous learners. Trusting my journey and cherishing the moment. Grateful for all my learnings and experiences.
3 Australian woman 👩🏼 👩🏻👩 have been killed in the last week in Australia.
All by men they know, as is the case in approximately 90% of cases
Everyday men
The violence of men against women remains a national emergency
Women have a human right to live free of male violence
First Nations people issued a letter to all Australians, called ‘statement from the heart’. They asked to be recognised in the constitution. In a national vote the people of Australia overwhelmingly rejected them. #TheVoice For those who never bothered reading it before voting, here it is…
So proud of my best friend and love @Dan_Bourchier with the incredible effort you have put in this year. Integrity is a word that gets thrown around a lot like a lolly. You epitomise the true meaning of that word!!!
Been apart for 186 days this year. See you next week.
#BREAKING: Australians have rejected recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the nation's first people in the constitution through the establishment of a Voice to Parliament advisory body. https://t.co/K7hJjFQaLh
We have always said that we need the Indigenous to let us know what they want and need for their people. In the Uluṟu Statement they did just that. Feeling gutted tonight that the referendum has shown Australia is not ready or open for a Voice to Parliament yet.
Australians will soon have the opportunity to re-write our national narrative to be more inclusive of First Nations people. I believe this change will benefit everyone in our community, it will add to the mental wealth of our nation. #VoteYesAustralia#auspol#Referendum2023
It's back to school time! Teachers may get more holidays than some of us, but during school term they’re pulling more hours than the average working Aussie. So thank a hard-working teacher today 🍎
Uluru Youth Dialogue Co-Chair, Wiradjuri woman Bridget Cama says the Voice provides First Peoples with the opportunity “to be able to provide solutions and inform policies, so that when they are rolled out on the ground, we’re seeing positive change in our communities”.
Paul Towney shares his own story with the panel and asks how Indigenous Australians will be empowered to create their own future and remove the painful and enduring reminders of colonisation #QandA
Australia will remain stuck as a nation until it embraces a Voice for First Nations people, becomes a republic with one of its own as head of state, changes its flag (John Joseph’s design is the best IMHO) and settles on a new national holiday that unites rather than divides.
I’ve spent the last 30 years of my life fighting for human rights. I will not be lectured to about human rights by the “I’ve done my own research & also I discovered human rights law last mth” to distort both science & law to hijack a public health issue into a human rights issue
