How should undersized pitchers approach training for velocity?🤔

We've coached hundreds of pitchers under 5'11" throwing 92+ mph, and we ran the numbers on what makes them different from their less vertically challenged counterparts.

Mass? Momentum? Rotational velocities? Sequencing? Impulse? Ground force?

A 45-minute deep dive that lays the groundwork for how to approach the process.

Here are five drills to throw harder by training athleticism. 💪

Don't miss the last one. It’s the drill that ties it all together. 🤝

Let's dive in. 🧵

Everything You Need to Know about Seam Effects:

A Thread🧵

[Remi Bunikiewicz @RBunikiewicz]

The Trend: All of these pitchers throw hard and leveraged seam effects to be even more effective.

They pitch out of their 'bias' which becomes somewhat irrelevant when pitchers throw upper 90s.

Try new stuff and see what sticks; be smart about it.

[Ben Brewster @TreadAthletics]

A simple way to learn a cutter (for pronators):

Pronators may need to:
✅Offset their grip
✅Leverage their middle finger on a seam
✅Reduce pressure/baby spike index finger

How much shape you go for will depend on the goal (whiffs - more depth vs weak contact - more velo).
