To Newsweek and those interested:
I gave permission for the Musk It meme. The purpose is to raise funds for a new science institute free of national boundaries and preferably located in Dubai, to start the serious study off Space-Time Travel and the physics or non-physics of Gravity; and a study to solve the difficulties of Fusion. Without success in these endeavors, the popular conception of the future, often shown in films, on TV and described in books, is out if the question. The 21st century will be another 18th century of nothing happened. We will enter the 22nd century more ir less exactly where we are now.
Rockets are interesting and have possibilities, but like the ever-increasing in size steam locomotives of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they were not the answer, just as rockets are not the answer now, particularly the answer to interplanetary travel and beyond.
A think-tank drawing so-called 'geeks' or 'nutters' from all over the world, not just from first-world conventional universities is needed. We are looking for people who can think out if the box. People like Michael Farady, a new Nikolas Tesla, a new Albert Einstein (whose second-class degree barred him from getting a lectureship). And the hundreds like them. Vishveshwara was one from a remote village in India. There have been many. These are who we are looking for. Capable of thinking beyond conventional science.
An added request has been to include an intense study of Longevity, the possible extension of the life-span of human beings. Many ancient texts describe lives of 120 years or more, even hundreds of years. This is worthy of inclusion, we believe.
As I made the suggestion of the institute recently in Dubai, when asked by the Sheikh, "What is next?" it was suggested to name the institute the Musk Institute.
To date, we have many pledges of support. Somewhat to my surprise.
I have insisted the institute will be for-profit. Not only for-profit for the institute, but for-profit for the researchers. We do not want career bureaucrats of any sort anywhere near the institute. These researchers will be working for themselves!
