@liamodaily@clevercorvidae_ Oh dude, the state I’m from (Illinois) is prime flat growing land, but they’ve devoted almost the entire state to being a corn monoculture and not much else (other than pumpkins and honey lmao) so besides the corn all the produce is shipped for months before reaching Chicago. Sad
@liamodaily@clevercorvidae_ Except for California. They’re the only ones with a diverse variety of fresh produce and that’s why they’re so skinny relative to everyone else lmao
@liamodaily@clevercorvidae_ I think my biggest gripe with American food is that the cooking METHODS are definitely there but, just like in the UK, lots of areas struggle to have fresh produce so people resort to eating imported highly processed foods
So much agricultural land, but all of it is for cattle…
@liamodaily@clevercorvidae_ The Michelin star system originated in Western Europe (France) and notices Western European fine dining first, that’s why there are so few in South America, Africa, or even Eastern Europe.
I’m willing to accept the average European food being better in anywhere BUT the UK.
@DuchessContent@SofEnCol Only for the white citizens though, plus you guys STILL have frequent and prolonged blackouts because the country is unwilling to get its shit together for the sake of public services.
Any other country with the same GDP would feel ashamed to have such dodgy infrastructure.
@phatman_U812@ShownSolid@drilliebobby Illinois specializes in corn and Chicago is 25% Hispanic (mostly Mexican). Every supermarket in the neighborhood I’m from sells FRESH still warm corn tortillas and they are a delight.
@HastaMortis Really don’t get why people think they’re owed other people’s time and art for doing something nice, as long as someone leaves a positive comment after I attack them I’m happy
@JamesTheTweeter@hinokomuro Possible it started as that but then people started going to Mexican food stands and pointing at the big plastic dispensers they keep the drinks in going “Look!!! Spa water!!, because I DID see that a few times.
@Butornot_ I mean. At least make jobs for artists?
How the hell do you think all those beautiful old chapels and temples and marble statues were created? The artists needed patrons willing to cough up cash, and now no one wants to pay for it so we get stupid gray box buildings instead.
@3Awesomenessx15@TerribleMaps I stupidly convinced myself that it was distance to the nearest national park but no I think that map would be almost an inversion of this one actually
I’ve heard Iraq has become safer to travel to (particularly Baghdad) but I’m not sure if even there is roadtrippable yet… dang. Could’ve also maybe ferried from Cyprus to Lebanon a few years ago but that’s not feasible now…
@smellypastagirl Yeahhh it’s the final episode for a show that was otherwise released entirely on YouTube and they released it EVERYWHERE so it’s bringing out a lot of people you wouldn’t see in theatres otherwise
I think the animation, visuals, character designs, music, and main concept for the show are all very good and fun. My biggest gripe is that a lot of the character moments feel corny/forced/tell-dont-show due to the super short runtime but otherwise it’s a solid indie project.
You know, I think TADC is one of the only pieces of media where even fans can’t tell you why they think it’s good. I’ve asked multiple people and it always just boils down to them saying "it’s good", never ever EVER them explaining why they think that.
@HalotiMatata@Resypto@matthew_petti Yeahh, was just providing it as one of the rare examples of larger contiguous regions being dedicated to a specific ethnic/cultural group in the US
