A chief owned all the wells in a village. Every morning, people lined up to buy water. The price kept rising.
The people grumbled quietly. "This is too much." But when they reached the front, they paid and left.
One day, a young man asked his father, "Why don't we dig our own well?"
His father muttered, "Shhh. The chief has guards. They will come at night. Just pay and stay quiet."
"But Papa, we are many. The guards are few," the boy responded.
The father whispered, "Yes, but what if they remember our faces? Better to suffer than be singled out."
So they kept paying. The price kept rising. Families bathed once a week. Children drank less water. Still, they paid.
The chief watched from his balcony and smiled. "I don't even need guards. Fear is cheaper than force. As long as they fear what might happen more than they hate what is happening, they'll never resist."
A council member asked him, "What if they realise they outnumber us?"
The chief laughed. "They know. But each waits for someone else to speak first. While they wait, I raise the price."
The prison with no walls is the one where every man guards his own chains.

If you have male children, you have a SACRED task of ensuring your son not only stands solid in character, but that he is also wise and courageous to stand up to his fellow men when they say and do evil to women.
All these men will disperse after this and integrate themselves back to polite society, and tomorrow someone will say women are being irrational in their fear.
Btw, a group of women would never gather like that to harm men. Never. And even if a few tried, other women would step in, and try to shut it down. Even online, women will be talking about harm done to them and you’ll still find other women rushing in to say “but some men are good,” to balance the conversation. Even a movement that was formed to fight for women’s right, most women still distance themselves from it!
But look at that video, hundreds of men, together, in broad daylight laughing, shouting, chasing, trying to participate. No one stopping it or pulling the others back.
It’s always “not all men,” but when things like this happen, it is always men. And more importantly, it is too many men at once for us to keep pretending this is rare or isolated.
At some point, we have to stop dancing around it and say the truth plainly! So irritated!
Omgg, yes. And the craziest part is I’ve seen this happen so many times. A man harassing a woman in the market, and the moment you speak up or try to defend yourself, it takes just one of them to start insulting you. Just one. Then he will give a look to another, or some silent signal and before you know it, the rest of them join in, “you think say you fine,” “na your first time,” all sorts of rubbish.
Like just one look is enough for them to align. And that’s why they keep pushing this idea of women being submissive. Because they already submit to each other in these dynamics, so they want someone else to also submit to them. The way they align with themselves is wild. Even online, they don’t know the man personally, but they will come together, create fake narratives, even fake chats, just to defend him and prove a woman is lying.
It’s actually so crazy when you really sit down and think about it. 🫠
@Divayetty1@TomiwaTegbe Men are submissive to other men. They don't even need to say a word to each other, just a nod and others fall in line.
You ever wonder how 100 men can gather to rape a woman and none would speak up against it, it's because they submit to themselves.
They are the real zombies.
People really underestimate the level of herd mentality that exists among men, especially when it comes to doing or allowing harm. Because even the ones not actively participating… what are they doing? Standing there recording, watching and stopping nothing. And somehow, they’ll still go home and think they’re “good men” because they didn’t directly do anything.
SO EVERYONE IN OZORO CAME TOGETHER AND SAID THEY WANT TO ORGANIZE A FESTIVAL AND IF THEY SEE ANY WOMAN OUTSIDE THEY WILL BE RAPED AND MOLESTED ?
AND EVERYBODY SMILED, NODDED AND AGREED ?
THERES ALWAYS NEW BULLSHIT EVERYDAY IN NIGERIA 🤮
People who argue that we should return to African traditions before the arrival of Christianity often overlook the fact that their current sense of morality has already been shaped by Christian influence. In doing so, they take for granted the extent of human wickedness, largely because they are unaware of what many societies were like before Christianity took root.
The men sitting and recording these acts feel like they’re better because they aren’t joining in, but you did NOTHING to help that woman you’re recording. You are a disgusting person and you’re just as bad.
You cannot tackle false rape accusers without first tackling rape. You must be loud in your condemnation of rape before you can begin to face false rape accusers.
But you’re a fool.
Can’t walk on the road without men trying to touch you.
Can’t go to a market and tell men not to touch you without being called ashawo.
Can’t go out during a festival without being raped.
This is the sad reality of Nigerian women.
