🏴☠️ The Cursed Mask is finally out on all streaming platforms! This is a musical story set in a fantasy universe that I'm building. In this series of tweets, i will present in detail each track of the album Listen now everywhere: https://t.co/MubcuFrtLu
I've written something similar to this in the past. It's not negative to me anymore like it used to be. Its flattering in a way.
There's always people saying "I liked the older stuff better" literally after every release I've ever put out for 15 years. I also wished I stayed forever 21 and nothing changed. But it really does. I have released hundreds of songs, dozens of albums. What more is there to be said. I think deep down, people aren't looking for me to wow them with the same big mac they've had 400 times. I think it's someone whos missing that special time when the music was the soundtrack to their life's back in their innocence. Before life kicked in. Just listening to weird underground stuff on having fun.
People in the comments: "I don't get why savant isn't more famous" and next to it "do that thing you did that only 100 people likes". At the end of the day, people follow me because I do me. Not because I'm some sort of genre I do. There are people who that those genres way better than me. I'm a melody guy, decent with sound design, know how to sing and write a tune. Those things are always there. This genre/style clinging's gotta gooooo!
People freaked out when I did a 80s rock album and a hard middle-east album. Now those are classics. Stuff grows on ya. Don't be afraid to expand your horizon. Listen to something again.
I couldn't do another whimsical chiptune wonk. It's not who I am right now. Its cringe to me. After like Overworld I was tired of that stuff and I really broke down after Heart/Cult. By Jester I started having panic attacks. Seeing therapists. Stopped touring completely. It was just too much of the same shit. Trying to please people by upping the harpsichord/chiptune shit every release. Not experimenting. Evolving. Getting better. Just worse.
You can hear when music is coming from the heart. Void and alchemist II was already a goodbye letter to a by-gone era. I really had to work hard to get those through. I did my best.
The music I'm doing now is me pretending that the music I make is just for me. What I want to hear. Growing. Trying new things. Moving with the times around us. Sorry if I sounded bitter or preachy! Don't mean to I swear. I'm very happy and positive! The absolute most of you show amazing support and love for my projects and I will always cherish you.
This is a new era for me. I'm gonna go hard. Have fun. Not fuck around. And I want you to come with me! Can't wait to play some shows with you soon. Planning tours and shows for next year right now!
@jkermarrec On peut spéculer que l'OST de FFVII Rebirth suivra un même chemin, avec une sortie synchronisée avec la sortie Steam, du moins ça ne paraît pas improbable
