This is SUCH a thoughtful, considerate video made to break down the issues surrounding JK Rowling's recent controversy, particular to explain it to people who are not familiar with what both sides are saying. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Really enjoying reading Consumed: The Need for Collective Change: Colonialism, Climate Change, and Consumerism, by Aja Barber
It's very enjoyable, and accessible, it doesn't focus on guilting the reader. It's so relevant and informative.
Sitting down to hurriedly prep for this evenings Book Club about The Vanishing Half by @britrbennett and discovered there is a whole kit prepped for book clubs?!?!?
Need authors and publishers everywhere to know HOW MUCH this is appreciated, you absolute angels!!! 😁😁😍
I feel like Independent is might churning these weird petty attacks on feminism as clickbait.
Is this author mad I don't keep up with who Kim Kardashian is dating?
It IS creepy when childlike youthfulness, inexperience, and naivete is valued in women - especially when it is seen to make them more compliant, and therefore 'better' partners.
These traits are not valued in men.

That's why feminism continues.
And it's why so many anti-feminist men will try and dismiss it by talking about "patriarchy".
Patriarchy is simply a way to describe the way historical male supremacy has shaped the society we all live in. One that skews towards male as default.
People often have a really bad understanding of waves of feminism. Often based on the assumption that each wave had a start and I had where it accomplished all it set out to do.
There are a shocking amount of people who think feminism should have ended with second wave.
The most ridiculous part of me, is that people assume that we can go through most of human history valuing women so little that these changes were necessary , and then suddenly social attitudes, expectations and norms will change overnight? They didn't.
Child abduction is also very rare, but we teach kids 'stranger danger'. We're conscious kids have been taught to be wary of strangers and avoid putting them in an situation that they have been warned about.
We don't take it personally.
It's the exact same with women.
