The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Osamaye, has urged the Women Special Assistants to the Ondo State Governor from Akure South Local Government to remain steadfast, dedicated, and united in fulfilling their responsibilities across their respective wards, in line with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s electoral commitments.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the group to her office in Akure, Ondo State Capital, Dr. Osamaye described their appointments as a divine call to service, emphasizing that it was not by personal merit but by God’s grace.

Dr Osamaye expressed gratitude to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the privilege of serving in his administration and called on the Women SAs to partner closely with her ministry to deliver on the governor’s mandates to the people.

The Women Affairs Commissioner highlighted that the ministry’s empowerment initiatives and interventions have been made possible through the governor’s unwavering support and interest in women Empowerment and development.

Dr. Osamaye noted that Governor Aiyedatiwa has vowed to ensure no woman in Ondo State suffers neglect or degradation, a promise she is fulfilling through timely approvals for women-focused programs.

She commended the delegation for the visit and assured them of continued collaboration in future ministry activities.

In their remarks, the Women Special Assistants expressed appreciation to the governor for their appointments and praised his administration’s impactful programs benefiting women across the state.

The women also lauded Dr. Osamaye’s leadership appealed for greater inclusion in the ministry’s upcoming initiatives.

The Nigerian Legion, Ondo state has inaugurated its new executive members

The new executive led by the Chairman, Retired Major Folorunso Akingboju and the vice president Warrant Officer Banjo Alabi Stephen and the area council chairman across the eighteen local government areas

Performing the ceremony in Akure, the Representative of the Minister of Defence, Mr Atibeere Samuel, commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the state legion during the election process.

Mr Atibeere appreciated the Ondo State Governor for his support of the retired officers who had served the nation meritoriously and charged them to be proactive under the new dispensation.

In his welcome address, the Ondo state Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, spoke about the peaceful atmosphere, for his leadership to strive in the state, in ensuring that the needs of the people across the state are provided.

The Governor who was represented by the commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Dr Seun Osamaye said his administration had created an enabling environment and improved infrastructure, education, the health sector, and road infrastructure,
Empowerment and skills for women, unprecedented attention to the children, elderly and vulnerable in Ondo state.

The Governor also appreciated the outgoing chairman of the organisation, Colonel Olu Apata for his peaceful leadership saying the election that ushered in the new leadership was a testament to their dedication, leadership and commitment to the Nigerian Legion

He expressed confidence that leadership's vision, passion and expertise will guide them towards greater heights.

Governor Aiyedatiwa charged them to work together to empower members, to foster growth and development.

The Governor called for the promotion of unity, solidarity and inclusivity, in celebrating the diversity and strength of the nation

He promised that the state government would continue to prioritise the welfare of the legions to build a formidable and bright future for the organisation.

In line with Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s vision to ensure no woman is left behind, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development today held an interactive briefing session with members of the Multisectoral Coordination Structure (MCS) and State Technical Committee (STC) on the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU). The World Bank assisted initiative

Declaring the session open, the Hon Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye who Co-Chaired the MCS commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for providing an enabling environment where Ondo women can thrive. She emphasized the importance of the multi-sectoral collaboration in driving the project’s success, noting that the first phase, approved by the Governor, will cover Ilaje, Akure North, and Akoko North West Local Government Areas for eight months. She further reiterated that the initiative embodies the Governor’s Ease Agenda, which promotes inclusiveness and sustainable empowerment for women at all levels hence deserves ultimate seriousness in delivering the mandate.

Presenting the project framework, the State Project Coordinator, Dr. (Mrs.) Jumoke Bakare, provided a detailed and comprehensive breakdown of the project’s scope to members of the State Technical Committee (STC) and the Multisectoral Coordination Structure (MCS). She disclosed that the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) will have positive impacts on targetted beneficiaries with the formation of about 5,000 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) to directly support between 90,000 and 125,000 women, with a multiplier effect projected to reach 450,000 to 650,000 beneficiaries across Ondo State. Dr. Bakare applauded Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s proactive and inclusive leadership, noting that his commitment to ensuring all senatorial districts are captured marks a major leap in the state’s empowerment trajectory toward advancing women’s economic inclusion and gender equality.

Commissioners and representatives from key ministries present including Hon Akande, Commissioner For Water Resources and Mineral resources, Hon. Tob loko, Commissioner for Environment; Chief Segun Odunsanya, Permanent Secretary of Agric Forest subsector, representing the commissioner of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; Pastor Bola Ademulegun, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry; and Hon Akande, Commissioner for Water and Mineral Resources and public sanitation; Mr Daisi the Admin Secretary of The Ministry of Planning and Budget representing the Commissioner commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for translating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda into tangible empowerment for women in Ondo State. They collectively expressed appreciation for the Governor’s inclusive vision and practical approach to development, noting that the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) reflects his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of women, particularly those in rural and peri-urban communities. The commissioners pledged full inter-ministerial collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs to ensure the seamless implementation and long-term success of the project. They all affirmed that under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, Ondo women are set on a new trajectory of empowerment, inclusion, and sustainable growth ensuring that no woman in the state is left behind.
