@OpeBee The President of African Development Bank tenure will end on May 25th, 2025.
Dr. Akinwumi Adesina should be appointed to head the South West Development Commission.
He's a technocrat.
I slid behind the wheel at 4:30 AM, my eyes barely open, wondering if I was still dreaming or if this was indeed the ungodly hour I had chosen to begin my day.
For five grueling hours, I navigated the winding highways of Texas, my hands gripping the steering wheel with the same fierce resolve my mother used when bargaining at Oshodi market. Each mile that passed beneath my tires was a victory, a step closer to my military office and a leap towards proving that nothing could stand in my way.
As I pulled into the parking lot, I silently congratulated myself but little did I know, the universe had a plot twist waiting for me that would make a Nollywood director proud. A colleague requested I help him drive a 16-seater van to a location.
I blinked, wondering if the early morning start had damaged my hearing. "Sir, you want me to what?"
"Drive the bus. On the highway. Now."
As I climbed into the driver's seat of this behemoth, I could feel doubt creeping in like a nosy Nigerian aunt at a family gathering. But I silenced it with a deep breath and a steely glare at my reflection in the rearview mirror. "Listen here," I told myself, channeling my inner Chimamanda, "If our mothers could balance buckets on their heads while carrying babies on their backs and still haggle for the best yams in the market, you can drive this bus."
With a roar of the engine that sounded suspiciously like my father's snoring, I merged onto the highway. I commanded this metal beast with a confidence that would have made even the most seasoned Lagos 'danfo' driver nod in approval.
As the miles flew by, I realized that this journey was more than just a drive. It was a metaphor for life itself, much like how fufu is a metaphor for resilience – it may seem daunting at first, but with the right technique (and a good soup), you can conquer anything.
To succeed in this world, you need a little madness and a lot of audacity.
I mean maaaaaad audacity.
