Fen Line performance has slipped again with 320 services, booked to start or finish at King's Lynn or Ely in September cancelled - up from 280 in August. Office of Rail and Road statistics show that cancellations at King's Lynn rose to 24.7% for the period ending 19th September.

Useful for those with a "Greater Anglia only" ticket. "Customers holding a valid ticket will be able to travel on another participating operator’s train, departing within 2 hours before or after their original cancelled service, using a direct or reasonable alternative route."

Sadly, some not so good news - and something that's out of the control of the railway. Our thoughts go out to all involved, not least the driver of the train. Too many tragedies of this sort these days....

A new bus service, the Central Connect 67, has started running from Swaffham, Marham and local villages to Downham Market railway station. Buses are timed to meet trains heading south, which so far this week have been more reliable. Trains towards King's Lynn still often late.

280 Fen Line services cancelled in August and not a good start to September. No trains between King's Lynn and Ely this morning according to the Great Northern website. More problems with the overhead lines and damage caused to train pantographs means many units under repair...

Alongside the usual problems (today it was a points failure between King's Lynn and Ely) there's a planned closure of the East Coast Main Line late Saturday/ Sunday so our trains will terminate at Royston or Letchworth Garden City. Do check journey planners before travelling.

Not the Fen Line but the West of England Line which I'm travelling on later today to Exeter. Clay soil is the problem there rather than peat.

Not a good start to Monday. It looks like trains are now running but with a shuttle service all day from King's Lynn to Cambridge and then a Thameslink service to St. Pancras for those heading to London.... 😐

Got to King's Lynn last night on the last train before the line shut due to OLE problems. 25 services cancelled yesterday and RR buses running today. We'd been to a GTR event at which they and Network Rail apologised for the abysmal service and shared plans for improvements!

Today's Norfolk Day celebrating all that's good about the county. The Fen Line has 3 stations in Norfolk with King's Lynn the 2nd busiest in the county (behind Norwich) and Downham Mkt in 4th place ahead of Great Yarmouth - stat's we remind decision makers of at every opportunity

On the 06.15. The 08.15 would get me there in time and save me £32 with my railcard but services just can't be relied on so it's £96. At least I got £44 off with delay repay refunds. Enough said....

Speed restrictions are being introduced between King's Lynn and Ely due to track issues caused by the dry weather. Some trains will leave 4 mins earlier. From 3 August there's a revised timetable. Full details are at: https://t.co/lYhw8LFQJE

Great Northern has posted an apology to customers on their website. The recent poor performance on the Fen Line has been acknowledged at a senior level with an assurance that GTR and Network Rail are working to improve the situation. More speed restrictions again yesterday....

Great Northern's website says "Generally a good service" today - but that's not the reality from King's Lynn. Three trains cancelled already this morning and the 09.45 only has 4 coaches instead of 8. Fen Line performance has been very poor recently - too many cancellations....
