Hi folks! This is the official Twitter account for the FEND Lab at @PittTweet . We're a research lab headed by @silk_jennifer focused on factors involved w/ etiology & treatment of depressive & anxiety disorders in teens! Follow to learn more ab our findings and current studies!
Come meet us to see if you qualify for Teen SCREEN at the @PGHMarathon! Today, we are partnering with the LNCD and CAND Labs who are recruiting participants for their research studies on mental health and the brain in young people too! Stop by to grab flyers & merch 🏃🏼♀️
We’re hiring a Project Coordinator at @PittTweet on a study examining social media use, the brain, and internalizing disorders in teen girls. Application link in the comments. Please share widely!
Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people in America. If you’re a parent, a teacher, or anyone who spends time with children and teens, these tools can help save lives. #SuicidePrevention

Thanks @ResearchpodHQ for highlighting our findings showing a beneficial side to texting and videochat for teen connectedness & mental health during COVID. Social technologies have both pros and cons that need to be understood. https://t.co/aZxNnrwtMs
Join a collaborative and vibrant lab in an amazing department in the wonderful city of Pittsburgh! Message me with specific questions but no need to email me to let me know you're applying (5/5)
I am looking for students interested in adolescent development and anxiety, depression, or suicidality, with a focus on social media use, emotional reactivity and regulation, peer acceptance/rejection, affective neuroscience, ecological momentary assessment, or eyetracking (4/5)
We are currently funded by the National Institute of Mental Health to study day-to-day fluctuations in emotional health among adolescent girls using ecological momentary assessment and passive sensing of social media use and fMRI of sensitivity to social evaluation (3/5)
We focus on the intersection of neurobiological risk factors and social experiences, especially experiences with peers and social media, and how these influence day-to-day emotional experience measured using ecological momentary assessment. (2/5)
Excited to share that I am recruiting a graduate student through the joint Clinical/Developmental Ph.D. program at @PittTweet. We study risk for affective disorders in adolescents, such as anxiety, depression, and suicidality. Spread the word! (1/5) https://t.co/49ddQ3Pz8x

Fronto-amygdala resting state functional connectivity is associated with anxiety symptoms among adolescent girls more advanced in pubertal maturation
https://t.co/X6n6hE5Coz
The implications of these findings suggest that functional connectivity between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex could very well be a neural mechanism underlying the development of anxiety symptoms in adolescent girls over time, especially for girls in the later… (8/9)
