The Odyssey isn't historically accurate because it's not historical. It's a work of fiction. I don't understand how people can't grasp this very simple idea.
Just got out of a preview screening of The Odyssey
Some takeaways:
1) This is a masterpiece of cinema
2) if you don’t see it because of casting rumors, you’re a certified idiot
3) There are certain categories of Oscars that this movie WILL win (not gonna give any spoilers here)
4) The casting for Achilles, which received so much attention when the trailer came out, will surprise everyone*
Timeless story and THE film of 2026
Overall, Nolan made another hit. Just as good as before, maybe even better. And for the love of Zeus, watch ONLY on IMAX!
MY RATING: 9.7 out of 10
The Odyssey opened in Malaysia 16 July 2026. Worldwide 17 July 2026.
My 98% spoiler-free review for #TheOdyssey#TheOdysseyMovie :-
Epic of epic proportions! Director Christopher Nolan is the only director whom I would watch his movies in cinemas based on his name. I don’t even watch all Spielberg films in theatres.
Lots of underlying themes, especially the burden of leadership being the primary one (2% spoiler here).
Filmmaking approach was never short of astounding. By utilising the IMAX ratio to its maximum, the scale of the photography is a beauty on its own.
I met him once boarding a plane. We were stuck in line and i was like "ok..say something..fk do it.. do it...do it" in my head..
He turns once glances at me... smiles and nods... like "yeah i know you know who i am.." and i just go quiet...then he glances back and just says "ask away..."
I did the usual "omfg love your work blah blah" and then he asked what I did and then just went into this rathole of how tech and creativity fascinate him and how people do things with computers and then we ended up talking about sheep properties and my life living in the outback... then he splintered off to his seat and mine..
Then we get to our destination, I get off and my wife is waiting for me with the kids and he gets off after me as he was ambushed with people wanting selfies... anyway I tell my wife "guess who's on the plane" and so she now wants to wait around, he then walks past us, nods at me and says "nice meeting you Scott" and continues..
The look my wife gave me at that point in time was like "WTF DID YOU DO.."
Anyway. All i remember was here's one guy who could have just waived me off took the time to chat about nothing and still somehow gave me the "you matter too" vibe.
Legend. Genuinely sad he's passed.
To @lotussmalaysia , I really hope this gets your attention. (LOTUS’S SELAYANG)
Today was supposed to be a normal grocery shopping trip with my wife, who is currently 38 weeks pregnant and could give birth at any time.
Instead, it turned into one of the most humiliating experiences we’ve ever had.
After we finished paying for our groceries, this staff member stopped us right outside the cashier.
Without introducing himself or explaining the situation properly, he looked at my wife and asked:
“Akak simpan barang apa tu dalam perut?”
Imagine hearing those words directed at your wife, who is heavily pregnant.
I was shocked. I immediately asked him, “Barang apa yang wife saya curi? Siapa yang nampak?”
Instead of showing any evidence, he said they wanted my wife’s Buku Pink as proof that she was pregnant.
That wasn’t enough.
They also wanted my wife to show her stomach to prove she wasn’t hiding stolen items.
Let that sink in.
A woman who is 38 weeks pregnant was being asked to prove her pregnancy because someone thought her baby bump looked suspicious.
At that moment, I completely lost my patience.
I told them if they were accusing someone of stealing, then they needed to provide proof, produce the witness, and call the supervisor immediately.
Instead, we were made to stand there for almost 20 minutes, surrounded by other shoppers, while they tried contacting their supervisor.
My wife was already exhausted from carrying our baby, and now she had to endure public embarrassment on top of that.
When the supervisor finally arrived, I insisted that the cashier who made the accusation come forward.
When I asked her directly:
“Bila awak nampak isteri saya ambil barang?”
Her answer shocked me.
She admitted she never actually saw my wife taking anything.
Her suspicion was simply because my wife’s stomach “didn’t look like a pregnant belly” and she thought it looked like someone hiding merchandise.
So there was no witness. No evidence. No stolen item. Only an assumption.
Eventually, she apologised to my wife.
The male staff member who confronted us remained silent until I took a step forward to punch him. Only then did he apologise.
Honestly, this isn’t even about the apology anymore.
It’s about the way my wife was treated.
She is carrying our first child. She is due to deliver any day now.
Throughout this pregnancy, I’ve done everything I can to protect her, reduce her stress, and make sure she’s comfortable.
Then, in a matter of minutes, two staff members made her feel like a criminal based solely on the appearance of her pregnant belly.
No pregnant woman deserves to go through this.
No customer should be publicly accused without evidence.
If you genuinely suspect theft, follow proper procedures professionally.
Don’t make assumptions.
Don’t ask a pregnant woman to expose her stomach.
Don’t ask for her medical records to prove she’s pregnant.
And definitely don’t embarrass innocent customers in front of everyone.
I sincerely hope Lotus’s looks into this incident seriously. This isn’t just about us.
It’s about making sure no other pregnant mother has to experience the same humiliation.
Please do better.
To that guy yang confront us in the beginning, I’d say it was your lucky day because the only reason I tak tumbuk you was to avoid any violence in front of my wife.
And for you cashier lady, why kau tak jadi doktor je?
Did you know Superman & Lois was one of The CW’s best-performing dramas?
The show was planned to go up to seven or eight seasons with a larger scale ending and would've involved the world of Brainiac.
But after James Gunn / Peter Safran became CEOs of DC Studios, the entire show was cancelled and ended with it's fourth season.
Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment, said Warner Bros. Discovery did not want “a competing Superman product in the marketplace.”
James Gunn's Superman went on to fail to beat Man of Steel at the worldwide box office from over 10 years ago (even unadjusted for inflation).
