These promos be hitting bad because like @The_MJF said, when I'm watching WWE it's like they're all playing characters.

That's not because Roman or Jacob are bad performers. Not at all. Great performers. Incredible characters.

But the crowd is dead - just like me - because we don't care. We already know Roman and Jacob aren't beefing. We got that whole podcast episode with Stephanie McMahon where the whole Bloodline including Solo are sitting together like nothing even happened.

That's the part WWE don't get. It's not that kayfabe is dead. It's the effort that's dead.

Put Seth and Roman in that same ring and the crowd loses it's mind - just like I would. And that's not just because these two are big names.

Seth and Roman have been working a personal beef for the last 10 years, esp in the last 4 years, and that creates a dynamic between them in the ring that sells their story by itself.

How? You *know* Roman and Seth are just pro wrestlers pretending to hate each other on screen but you also go, wait a minute - and this is where the magic happens - do they like each other in real life tho? They haven't taken a photo together in years. Not even when Seth's baby was born. Seth talked about his inferiority complex, the impostor syndrome. Is that true? Did Roman change with his success and don't see Seth as his brother anymore?

THAT is meta-kayfabe. And that's what sells a big money match.

Right now, it's missing. It's not that wrestlers have to be in character all the time and never take photos w their coworkers but when you're in a storyline with someone and it requires suspension of disbelief, perhaps you two just take photos and keep it between yourselves?

So now WWE have cornered themselves into a situation where they're not WWE anymore and also not a real sport, or a movie, or a movie about a movie. Nope.

WWE is becoming, nothing.
