Not surprised with the level of watered down education in high schools with teachers who are robots waiting to accumulate 30 years to retire. So sad. Not much to do when admin beats up on teachers and supports grade bias inequity and inflation.
It is imperative that we build 21st-century skills in students before they graduate high school. The students best positioned for success are self-directed and self-aware. They aren’t the kids with the best GPAs or test scores. They are brilliant self-managers. 1/3
Agreed. Some schools have honors classes w everyone getting 95 to 100 mainly with completion grades. Grades should be a normal or bell curve, if the teacher is challenging everyone. Grade inflation is what parents and admin want, but a 95 with 95 average has no real value.
But we don’t make that clear in K-12 education. Instead, we largely leverage one-size-fits-all instructional models that force teachers to micro-manage the learning environment. It leads to a lot of coddling and “getting students across the finish.” 2/3
Nothing burns teachers out more than sustained behavior management issues. Students are experiencing more emotional dysregulation than we have seen in years. To navigate through it, we must recognize that traditional instruction approaches increase behavior management issues. 1/3
Teaching is not delivering information. Teaching is building relationships with students and supporting them as they apply new information to complex tasks. The power of technology is that it allows educators to spend less time delivering information and more time truly teaching.
. @Kareemfarah23 Administrators find biases to reject teachers. We are asked for more, but not to be different. Parents, students & administrators need to be inclusive to diversity, catering to learning differences in new ways. Enough beating up on me @FUFSD; small mindedness
. @LarryLeaven Took $ ran Was my dismissal part of your 300k$ severance ? @BlaiseGomez12 How can I be let go because of trying to keep students safe, secure & alive at #Lockdown Nov 3 Protocol requires that door be opened w keys by police & admin @FUFSD@NBCNews@CNN@ABC7NY
