Celebration without clarity? The BJP’s leadership is hard to understand.

At the NDA parliamentary meeting, MP's raised “Jai Modi” slogans while the country still has no clear explanation on the India–US trade deal.

Trump tweeted details the same day the deal was announced. From India’s side, there was silence on agriculture, tariffs, imports, and the $500 billion trade figure.

India’s total imports are about $700 billion. We import $45 billion from the US and export $70 billion. How does a $500 billion deal with one country add up?

Trump has said India’s agricultural market will open, despite 36% tariffs meant to protect farmers. Tariffs of 25–18% on other products are being discussed as zero.

After today’s press conference, the Agriculture Minister claimed that India’s agricultural market remains protected. But the official press statement does not explicitly state that the 30–36% tariffs will continue. Key questions about the $500 billion figure and its feasibility remain unanswered.

If clarity will come later through “due process,” why celebrate now?

This is not politics. This is constructive criticism.
