The time has come: in 2026, 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗔𝗫 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲.

We also created three new video courses that should not become obsolete in two weeks!
𝗔𝗜 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗜: 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼 (𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲!)
𝗗𝗔𝗫 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜: 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀
𝗗𝗔𝗫 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜: 𝗦𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀

We have a page dedicated to AI for Power BI and DAX, where you can also find the link to these courses:

I wrote a long post to recap what has changed between 2023 and 2026, and trying to answer many questions I expect to receive:

I am looking forward to receiving all types of comments! 🙂

Microsoft is retiring its Whiteboard app on September 14.
Here is what we drew instead: free, open source, and native to Windows 11.

Learn how to highlight a single data point among a distribution in #PowerBI; no custom visuals required.

Bonus if you like D&D, cause we're analyzing the statistics of monsters. It's summer after all, let's have fun with it.

@ehansalytics I hate to admit it… but ALL is so much more sexy than REMOVEFILTERS… there’s this see-not-see thing that makes me use it more often than I should! :))

@MarkWalterCPA This looks like a smart statement. Just can’t believe I wrote it! :)

Hints from a book from the future:

“Honestly, it would be better to be a good data modeler and a mediocre DAX author than a DAX guru but a poor data modeler. Therefore, if data modeling is not your cup of tea, roll up your sleeves and start learning it. Maybe during the pauses, while reading this book: you will attain two great goals at once.”

The 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗔𝗫 book (aka 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸, as it is 800+ pages) is now 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲:
- Paperback (Black & White)
- Hardcover (Color)
- eBook (PDF, Kindle, ePub)

Short, sad story.

Once upon a time, there was a 𝙡𝙖𝙯𝙮 data modeler.
Their semantic model did not work.

End of the story.

This article+video shows how to compute ratios when row-level security hides some of the data, and you need a percentage that includes the hidden rows in the comparison.
