With the resources at his disposal, the inability to put together a top notch major league roster that can legitimately compete with the Dodgers is bad enough. But his forte is supposed to be the farm system and almost every prospect has digressed. Unfortunately the owner has a man crush on him so I wonder if Cohen will even force him to hire a GM....whatevs....what you reap is what you sow.
While I am on record in the off season as not being nearly as high on this roster as maybe some others, I never in a million years thought they'd be this bad. I mean...it's insane to think that at this point, just to get to 81 wins (which isn't gonna happen btw)....they'd have to go 41-24 over the last 65 games...that's a .631 winning pct. For context, that's a slightly better pace than the Dodgers had in the first half. So we're definitely in the 70+ win range, maybe worse....all for $380M of Steve Cohen's money. Just an absolute disaster. #LGM
All in all this is definitely a David Stearns type of Mets draft class. It's what hes going for. It's on player development to work with these guys obviously, many of whom like most amateur athletes will immediately change things after they arrive in their swing/arsenal.
No offense to Steve but these guys keep calling these losses “stunning” when they’ve been happening with sunrise regularity since June of last year. #LGM
A stunning loss caps an incredibly disappointing first half for the Mets.
They were on the brink of a much-needed feel-good story heading into the All-Star break. Instead, Francisco Lindor (after driving in both Mets runs in the game) boots what would’ve been the game-ending double play, Devin Williams can’t recover and the Mets fall 3-2 in extras, wasting a spectacular outing from rookie Zach Thornton.

This isn’t merely bad taste, it’s a moral hierarchy:

🚨 SCOOP from @adamlehodey: Zohran Mamdani's commissioner for international affairs, Ana María Archila (@AnaMariaforNY), scheduled a meeting with Amir-Saeid Iravani — the Islamic Republic of Iran's ambassador to the United Nations — for July 7 at 2 UN Plaza.
The United States is engaged in hostilities with Iran. It has no diplomatic relations with Tehran. And the State Department was never informed.
The meeting was only called off after State met with the Mamdani administration to "clarify acceptable conduct." Per a source familiar with the office, Archila hadn't even told @NYCMayor Mamdani — and was reprimanded and directed to cancel.
Who is Archila? A career activist and former co-director of the Working Families Party, appointed to run NYC's international affairs office with no diplomatic experience whatsoever.
And this isn't a one-off. In April, staff in her office were instructed to prioritize diplomatic engagement based on whether foreign officials are "in political alignment/leftist." That's a direct quote from an internal message reviewed by @CityJournal.
The office exists to attract foreign business and exchange best practices with global cities. Under Mamdani, it's looking more like freelance foreign policy shop for socialist internationalism.

Per @AnthonyDiComo, the Mets are calling up Dan Hammer. He has a 2.16 ERA this season in 27 games for Binghamton & Syracuse.
Hammer was in the Orioles system from 2021-2025 before being selected in last year's Rule 5 draft by the Rays. Hammer signed as a free agent in March.
Zohran Mamdani wants to ERASE Italian Americans.
First, he denied our permit for Unity Day 2026.
Now, he is excluding Little Italy as a recognized location all together on the map.

UPDATE
People within the Mets front office still hold the belief that Brett Baty will emerge as a lineup staple, which means they will not part with him for nothing, per @chelsea_janes
I don't disagree with the prediction overall...but the Mougey/Glenn prediction really got my attention. Boy, if we get to the end of the season and Glenn hasn't even developed into an "average" NFL head coach, I would think Woody and Mougs really need to think "is this the guy we want to groom our rookie, top ten pick QB next year?". Because if you go down that path and find out he isn't, then your rookie QB is on to HC/OC #2 in his second season. Rinse. Repeat. #Jets
