It’s been a crazy few days which have been filled with a whole range of emotions.
But as you all now know, after an incredible 11 years at Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, the time has come for me to start a new chapter in my life and I will be joining Scuderia Ferrari in 2025.
I feel incredibly fortunate, after achieving things with Mercedes that I could only have dreamed of as a kid, that I now have the chance to fulfil another childhood dream. Driving in Ferrari red.
Mercedes has been a huge part of my life since I was 13 years old, so this decision has been the hardest I’ve ever had to make. I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve achieved together and I’m very grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone I have worked with over the years and of course Toto, for his friendship, guidance and leadership. Together we have won titles, broken records and become the most successful Driver-Team partnership in F1 history. And of course I cannot forget Niki who was a huge supporter and who I still miss everyday.
I must also share my huge appreciation to the whole of the Mercedes-Benz board and everyone at the company in Germany and around the world for supporting me over these 26 years.
But the time is right to make a change and take on a new challenge. I still remember the feeling of taking a leap of faith into the unknown when I first joined Mercedes in 2013. I know some people didn’t understand it at the time but I was right to make the move then and it's the feeling I have again now. I’m excited to see what I can bring to this new opportunity and what we can do together.
However, right now, I’m not thinking about 2025. My focus is on the upcoming season and getting back out on track with Mercedes. I am more driven than ever, I am fitter and more focussed than than ever and I want to help Mercedes win once again. I am 100% committed to the job I need to do and determined to end my partnership with the team on a high.
Thank you to all of you who have been on this journey with me, you have all lifted me up as I chase my dreams and I hope I can continue to make you proud. As always, sending you my love and positive energy.
Mark Cuban is selling the Dallas Mavericks.
Dallas Mavericks Valuation
• 2000: $285 million
• 2023: $3.5 billion (+1,128%)
But this deal is really part of a bigger plan to bring legalized casino gambling to Texas.
Let me explain 👇
Mark Cuban is one of the NBA's best owners.
He purchased a bad Mavericks team in 2000 — they won just 40% of their games the prior 20 years — and changed everything.
• Renovated the locker room
• Put players in 5-star hotels
• Catered meals after practice & games
• Hired more coaches and staff
• Invested heavily in analytics
• Bought a 757 jet for team flights
This led to the Mavericks winning their first-ever NBA Championship in 2011, and the team now ranks #1 in attendance.
Dallas Mavericks NBA Attendance Rank
• 2000-01: 14th
• 2023-24: 1st
So why is Mark Cuban selling the team?
Well, it's not because he wants to be President, as there is no rule requiring him to sell the team, and he will still be just as busy running basketball operations.
Instead, my guess is that he isn't as bullish on the future of the NBA as he once was — regional sports networks are going bankrupt and valuation growth might slow over the next decade.
So this deal allows him to take billions in profit off the table while still running the team. That's a win-win.
But the interesting part is the Adelson family.
Miriam Adelson is the largest shareholder of Las Vegas Sands — the world's largest casino company.
She is the world's 35th richest person and would instantly be the 3rd richest owner in US sports.
Wealthiest Owners In US Pro Sports
1. Steve Ballmer (Clippers): $100 billion
2. Rob Walton (Broncos): $67 billion
3. Miriam Adelson (Mavericks): $32 billion
4. Dan Gilbert (Cavaliers): $21 billion
5. David Tepper (Panthers): $20 billion
But Miriam Adelson is also 78 years old and not getting any younger. She won't be running the team day-to-day and had to sell $2 billion of stock to complete the deal.
That's why I think this is really a lobbying play to bring legalized casino gambling to Texas.
The Mavericks arena is 20 years old, and Cuban has previously said he wants the new one to include a resort and casino around the property.
He specifically mentioned wanting to work with Las Vegas Sands on that project.
The Adelson family also donated millions last year to political campaigns in Texas, and Las Vegas Sands hired 89 lobbyists in Texas — the most ever.
Now, last year's resort and casino legislation bill didn't make it past the House.
But Tillman Fertitta (Houston Rockets) and Jerry Jones (Dallas Cowboys) are donating millions as well, and owning the state's most popular NBA team is certainly a good bargaining chip for the future.
Think about it this way...
The Adelson family could dangle a $1 billion privately financed arena over politicians' heads, or maybe they even threaten to move the team if it doesn't get passed.
We don't know what will happen, of course.
But don't be surprised if casino gambling eventually gets approved in Texas.
Many Dallas residents are already traveling 80 miles into Oklahoma to gamble, and the 22 other states with commercial casinos are making billions in tax revenue.
Remember, all you need to do is follow the money.

Bad shoot.
One of the Castle doctrine principle is that you can use deadly force “when the actor reasonably fears imminent peril of death or serious bodily harm to him or herself or another”.
Boy I see no fear in the actor…..
Remember this?
Dad and stepdad get into a dispute over custody arrangements.
The father, Chad Read, was shot and did not survive.
No charges were filed against the stepfather, Kyle Carruth, who was protected under the Castle Doctrine.
Opinion.
Good shoot? Bad shoot?
Agreed.
Last week, I went to my local bodega for a Philly cheese steak sandwich. To my shock, Pablo, my absolute boy and sandwich maker extraordinaire, told me:
"No hay más Philly cheese steak, Señor Jack."
When I asked why, he started crying, and whispered, "big sandwich," pointing at the TV.
Sure enough, Roark Capital executives were on CNBC, gloating about how they would put every bodega in New York out of business by monopolizing the sandwich market.
Small business owners would no longer be able to compete, as hungry consumers would certainly flock from miles to Subway and Jimmy Johns for their higher quality food, kinder employees, and better restaurant ambience.
I imagine that prioritizing FTC resources must be tough.
Sure, Microsoft is choking the emerging AI industry with its land-grab OpenAI investment. And, yes, Apple holds Google at gunpoint, charging insane fees to include Chrome on iPhones. And, okay, fine, Amazon might actually be jeopardizing thousands of small businesses with their anti-competitive pricing practices.
But I applaud Elizabeth Warren for taking a stand against big sandwich. Being a senator is a thankless job, but I stand with you, Lizzy.

The officers showed up and complimented the caretaker on the firearms he had inside the home and left, even though she begged them to stay.
