Nicola Sturgeon, 56, is spending spare time on a friend’s £150,000 houseboat on London’s Grand Union Canal after fleeing Scotland.

The boat belongs to barrister Claire Mitchell KC and sits in a well off part of the capital near bars and restaurants. On 26 May Sturgeon posted pictures from the water and said time in the sunshine with friends was great fun and good for the soul.

The former First Minister left Scotland for England and has been promoting her memoir Frankly, signed with a London talent agency.

Her estranged husband Peter Murrell was convicted of embezzling more than £400,000 from the SNP and jailed for more than 5 years.

One critic said "Nicola, Queen of Scots, hated England and wanted total independence from the Westminster parliament in London. So a total hypocrite"

another said: "Could have been worse, it could’ve been a Camper-van. But for someone who spent years screaming “Independence from England” now staying in London such Hypocrisy"
