Huge Dziękuję to our performers, and Mr Matysiak and the catering team for a great Burns supper tonight. They feed hundreds of people every day and go above and beyond for special events.
For Holocaust Memorial Day, our 3rd form heard a live interview with Mala Tribich MBE. After the Nazis invaded Poland, she was forced into a ghetto, used for slave labour, and eventually sent to the notorious Belsen concentration camp, aged 14. A powerful testimony from history.
Well done to Koki N and Udit D who narrowly defeated Ingrid McC and Yara S in the first debate of the annual Macleod Competition. Thanks to Beth D for chairing
Well done to Ingrid McC, Yaroslava S, Beth D & Eppie HJ who took part in the Team Scotland debating competition at ESMS today. Although they didn't qualify for the Cambridge debate, they put up a good show against experienced opposition and gained valuable experience
The Upper was packed for tonight's grand final of House Debating: Henry L and George M of Glencorse proposed an Australian-style teenage social media ban, ably opposed by Nimrat K and Sope A of College East. It was a close contest but well done to this year's winners, Glencorse!
Glencorse and Kimmerghame shone in tonight's House Debating Semi-Final: Boris TS and Koki N proposed that this house welcomes the reelection of Mr Trump, opposed by Henry L and George M. A very professional debate with good points on both sides; narrow win for GL. Well done all!
Another beautiful Remembrance Sunday Commemoration at Fettes. Great talk by @FC_Expeditions about courage, and wonderful to see the Fettes family together and on amazing form.
Remembrance at Fettes is a reminder of the fact that we are an organic family: the prep school's poppies recall each name on the memorial, and displays tell the stories of our 80th anniversaries in 1944
Good performance by Ritisha K, Evie Mac and Moritz T at the YSS Public Speaking Competition. Clear and confident against experienced opposition. Congratulations to Ritisha who's through to the next round!
Great to welcome @DrJCrossland for a fascinating talk on his book about OF Robert Bruce Lockhart (S1900): someone who lived up to his advice 'Always be adventurous'
@dcsandbrook Took some sixth formers there last year. Imagine my joy when one of them recently told me it had featured in the first stage of her degree course in architecture
