I believe that being a fan means not being afraid to call out your fave when they screw up. I’ve been a fan of Darren Criss for 8 years but his choice to perform a song by R Kelly was idiotic. Because I am I fan, I know that he’s smart enough to know better. I have conflicted 1/2
Feelings about the song itself, it IS good, I don’t blame him for liking it in spite of the actions of the musician behind it. HOWEVER, in a post #metoo world and with the platform he has, we have to hold all of our faves to a higher standard. Darren - do better.
You know what @DarrenCriss I'm sorry but you done fucked up way too many times for you to get any sympathy for your careless actions. You deserve the hate, the judgement, the shit talking at this point. Wake up, asshat.
@DarrenCriss I can’t believe you chose to sing a song by R.Kelly at your Chicago concert tonight?!? A song by a man who has been accused by countless women of color for sexual assault. Everything from child pornography to a sex cult and anything you can think of in between
P.S. Your excuse to choose this song as music that reflected Chicago was weak. If you had done any research about R.Kelly and Chicago, you may have learned that he was recently removed from a concert lineup in his hometown because the community protested
