Accepting his flaws, learning he's abusive and growing as a person was quite inspiring, and I genuinely think there was a good message there.
If they change him into a nice charming guy, then they have to change Shera, his backstory and then Rocket Town.
It's all connected.

I'm still not overly happy with how they neutered my boy Cid, he seems like a wholely other character and not very similar to the original at all.
Maybe they just didn't show it, but there isn't even a sexy woman on the side of the Highwind in the trailer...

I am VERY sceptical as to whether he will even swear in Revelation.
I know it's probably a petty thing to complain about, but I am who I am, and Cid's character growth in the OG was always super wholesom.

Square-Enix including DeepGround in Episode: Intergrade and therefore making Dirge of Cerberus make more sense is all in all good imo.

I was always a little conflicted with the adjustments to FF7R trilogy, but learning that one of the goals was to make everything in the saga of FF7 reach a cohesive point makes me feel a lot better about it.

I don't hate it, but I also just don't really care, what I do care about it continuity.
