The ending is honestly brutal when you think about what Bryan actually went through. This guy spends the entire movie protecting that package because he genuinely believes he’s delivering something important to the hospital, only to find out that he’s been carrying the final piece needed to make the cure.

And then the moment he finally gets it where it needs to go, he’s already infected beyond the point of saving.

That’s what makes the ending so cruel. Bryan basically does everything they needed him to do, survives the outbreak long enough to deliver the component, and then becomes another casualty of the same experiment the scientists are desperately trying to fix.

I also think the scientists treating him like a problem instead of a person makes the ending hit harder. From their perspective, he’s an infected subject standing between them and the cure. From Bryan’s perspective, he’s just a terrified guy who has spent the entire movie trying to survive and get that package delivered.

The irony is insane: the person carrying the ingredient that could save Raccoon City is the person who ultimately can’t be saved by it.

And if that was intentional, Bryan’s story is less about being a hero and more about being another forgotten casualty of Umbrella’s mistakes. He wasn’t chosen for this. He wasn’t prepared for it. He was just the wrong person in the wrong place carrying the right package.

That’s a genuinely tragic way to end a Resident Evil story.
