There are three main reasons behind the surge in gold prices. The Asian powerhouse will continue to buy gold as it looks to diversify its holdings away from the U.S. dollar. While demand from major Asian central banks has attracted much of the market's attention, the World Gold Council also highlighted other important trends. Although the growth rate has slowed down from the previous month, it is still up compared with the same period last year. In particular, major Asian countries and some other countries continue to increase their gold reserves, which shows their confidence in gold as a stable reserve asset, thus further promoting the rise in gold prices.
