A beautiful wedding can last one day; the character of the person you marry meets you every morning afterward. Look beyond the ceremony. Study how they handle responsibility, correction, money, disappointment and the people who cannot do anything for them.
They have so far hosted 4 architects and for three of them I remember thinking, boy that's not a bet you take if you don't come from a comfortable situation. Or that's not an opportunity you get if your kin aren't well networked. Better yet, that's a loss that would take you years of insane work to recover if you didn't have that sort of landing.
Never the less, the stories are inspirational, eye opening and each guest I have listened to had insane dedication and grit. Deserving! You can also come from money and be a bum. The chances of that are even higher!
If You're pregnant right now or have a kid already, please don't let anybody make You think Your kid ruined Your life. Yes it's hard, yes there'll be sleepless nights, things might take a little longer to get together, but You can still do it with Your baby on Your back. I don't care what anybody says, I know a lot of people with Kids doing better than those without Kids. People like to make it seem like having Kids means Your life is over, but actually it's just getting started. Your Kid will make You wanna push to be better because You know You got a little one looking up to You. Kids are a blessing at the end of the day.

As someone who has both:
Been childless and traveled the world
and
Been a father now for 6 years
Let me tell you my experience:
The joy of children and family far exceeds the freedom of travel and a couple extra bucks in the bank.
The quoted post below is coming from someone who has not experienced both.
As well-intentioned as it may be, it is an incomplete opinion because the alternative - having kids - has not been experienced by the author.
I completely understand people having different priorities. And that’s beauty of life - we can all choose what we wish. That’s fine.
But it’s not a “life hack”.
It saves money temporarily, you’ll get more sleep for a few years, and requires less responsibility. That’s it. (I’d even argue that having kids is a net positive for net worth over time given the responsibility required.)
I’ve never seen someone who had children regret it and wish they travelled instead.
As a corollary, I know many people who wholly regret not building a family after solely focusing on money, career, travel, and material possessions.
For those who are weighing whether or not to have kids, take it from someone who has been all over the world:
I lived in South America. Climbed the Great Wall of China. Sailed the Mediterranean and Danube. Explored Cape Town and Shanghai and Iguazu Falls and Tuscany and Paris and Prague and Bogota. Safaris in Africa and pubs in London.
Despite all of my travels, my greatest happiness and fulfillment has - far and away - come from being a father.
And bonus: You can still travel and see the world…except you get to show your little people the world, too.
Go fall in love, have kids, and see the world. You can do it all.
There’s a big part of me that honestly believes we deserve everything we get from these politicians. Because how do we keep watching the same people mess this country over and over again and still act surprised?
We have a generation that’s too comfortable letting Gen Zs fight for the country while they sit and comment from a distance. How are you in your late 30s, 40s, 50s okay watching your children or younger siblings fight battles for problems you helped create? You voted for thieves, defended them, campaigned for them, and when they get back in office you act like victims.
Look at what’s happening right now. Our lecturers are on strike. Students are stranded. Campuses are falling apart. But a whole CS is in another country praising their universities and lecturers as if ours don’t exist. How disconnected can you be?
Our healthcare system is collapsing. Hospitals have no medicine, doctors and nurses are exhausted and underpaid. When these politicians fall sick or want to give birth, they fly out for treatment instead of fixing the same hospitals they destroyed. They go to countries whose hospitals were built by LEADERS who cared about their people.
We have MPs passing harmful laws that directly affect the same people who voted for them. They show up, collect allowances, and disappear until the next campaign season. And still, we say “tutawafundisha lesson next election.” How many lessons have we taught so far?
Then there’s the Kenyan middle class. The most delusional ones, the ones who think national issues don’t concern them. As long as they have Wi-Fi, their kids are in private schools, and they can drive to work, everything else is “noise.” They don’t realize that the same system they ignore will come for them too :when taxes rise, when school fees double, when the economy finally collapses and insecurity rises due to lack of jobs for the “common” mwananchi…
We can’t keep outsourcing courage from Gen Z. Every generation that stays silent makes it worse for the next one. This habit of saying “minding my own business” is why nothing changes. Because those who created the mess never stay to clean it up.
And before we complain again, here’s the truth we actually have power, we just don’t use it.
We can recall MPs who betray the people, but we never do!! That’s why they’re comfortable saying they want to copy this and this from China coz they know you guys aint shit.. We can demand accountability, but we don’t..We can organize locally, but we wait for someone else to start
If we were serious, we’d start showing up for public meetings, asking questions, and refusing to clap for politicians who don’t deliver. We’d rebuild civic awareness and stop acting like politics ends at voting. We’d stand with those who are fighting instead of mocking them. And we’d vote with memory , not tribe, not token, not empty promises.
Because if nothing changes, one day your child will ask you what you did when this country was falling apart and silence won’t be a good enough answer.
For me, I will continue using my platforms no matter what 🚶🏾♀️🚶🏾♀️
In another world I would have been sad
But we lost so many young people since June last year
for someone to benefit from it
A legacy that would have been something was tarnished just like that...lying in bed with the devil
We will absolutely never forget🙏
There is a very big issue going on here and it cuts across industries.
We don't value ideas.
We dont think thinking is work and that those thoughts and skills deserve payment.
People want to be given ideas for free and pay only for the execution of the ideas or work.
I hate it.
Money is not the only way God can bless you. He can add time to your life, get you approved for a house or car, or make a way for you to pay your bills. He can delay things to protect you & make sure you make it home safely. All of those are blessings. Be grateful!✨
