During our investigation of protein pyrophosphorylation, we identified a novel post-translational modification (PTM), which we have termed 'Protein Oligophosphorylation'.

To substantiate our findings, we collaborated with @PhosphorusFive@CEStieger and @daniel_roderer@FelixSchoepf to obtain mass spectrometry spectra and the first-ever Cryo-EM structure of pyro-and oligo- phosphorylated proteins.
Happy to share our latest paper on protein pyrophosphorylation - yes, it exists! It has been a long journey with many wonderful co-workers and collaborators. Thank you all!

@chemzymes Thats an interesting suggestion! Our lab has done a study on a similar line in the past: https://t.co/QwrWrwKpK0
Maybe this helps to answer your question partially! Enjoy the read!
And you are absolutely right the pyrophosphomania has just begun 🌊
Follow up to our discovery of endogenous protein pyrophosphorylation, Arif Celik, a PhD student from our lab, decided to select one of the newly found „pyrophosohoproteins“ and see what effect does this PTM have on protein activity.

On the way to understanding the role of pyrophosphorylation, he also discovered a new mode of protein pyrophosphorylation! Thank you Arif for the hard work!

Unexpected results often lead to fascinating discoveries!
Have a look at this new paper from our lab where @timaguirre_chem developed an inhibitor for IP6Ks and found out some really cool mechanistic details about the inhibition

Congratulations to Minh Nguyen Trung @FiedlerLab for a wonderful defense of his PhD "Elucidation of Inositol Polyphosphate Dephosphorylation Pathways using Stable-Isotope Labelling and NMR spectroscopy" What a journey! Grateful to have been part of the evaluation committee🍾🥞😀
Congratulations Minh for successfully defending your PhD! A very well deserved “summa cum laude” and thank you so much for contributing towards unveiling of the black box of inositol polyphosphate metabolism :)
