Dwight Lowry was a beloved teammate on the Tigers 1984 World Series championship team. He died tragically at age 39 while working in our organization as a minor league coach. Last night, his daughter Amanda & son Zachary returned to Detroit for the first time since his passing.🧡
… and now he’s throwing the Opening Day first pitch. Will we hear Skee-Lo’s iconic “I Wish” song when he takes the mound?
A champion and warrior on the field and in the community.
Can’t wait to see you back at Comerica Park, @BrandonInge!

Mickey Lolich made his last public appearance at Comerica Park in 2023. He was in a wheelchair. When he left, he insisted on standing up to say goodbye. Willie Horton & Mickey Stanley helped lift him up and he waved goodbye. I snapped this photo feeling the gravity of the moment.
A few more of my favorite photos from the @MSHOF Induction event on Friday. Congratulations to the extraordinary Class of 2025.

Proud to help lead the @MSHOF. Grateful for our Board, volunteers, voters, sponsors & supporters.
The stars came out to celebrate the MSHOF Class of 2025. Inspired and privileged to be surrounded by such greatness.
Love @Claressashields’s reaction to receiving her MSHOF ring.
What a class! The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame’s 2025 inductees:
Chris Chelios, Rasheed Wallace, Claressa Shields, Jason Richardson, Mark Dantonio, and Dave Dombrowski.
Honored to emcee the @MSHOF’s big night with @NatalieKerwin1
The fastest man at the 2025 NFL Combine is from West Bloomfield, Michigan and he’s throwing the 1st pitch tonight at Comerica Park.

Appreciation post for Jim Schmakel, longtime Tigers Clubhouse Manager, who announced his retirement.
Jim started with the Tigers in 1978, but began his baseball career a decade earlier. Here he is (bottom row, far left) as a batboy in the 1966 Toledo Mud Hens team photo.
