Halloween was so special to be growing up poor as well! It wasnt about what gifts i could afford ppl. Costumes were meant to be ragged or strange. And I wasnt the weird one! I was just perfect for the day, one day a year. Suddenly the entire world is engaging in my hyperfocus lol

I feel vaguely connected to my community even now, for this one day of the year. I dont talk to the ppl in my area..im fairly house bound. But on halloween ill go out and talk and give candy and everyone is a mix of happy and horrified. I still think u need to scare kids on ween tho! We get HUNDRREDS of kids on ween, i hope our silly house can help keep my own memory of halloween going for others
