He was part of a team interacting with locals in Kishtwar upper reaches, suddenly he sensed movement of two terrorists (JEM CMDR SAIFULLAH AND ANOTHER FT) who were trying to ambush army team. He quickly engaged the terrorists in hand to hand combat, snatched off and threw a Turkish made pistol from Saifullah and saved own team from any casualties

He punched Saifullah right at his face and broke multiple of his teeth, completely overpowered him

Right then he was shot fatally at his back by the other terrorist

Despite all odds he managed to rescue his brothers and attained veergati
