Journalist Abay Zewdu was arrested in August 2023 and spent months detained at a notorious military camp in eastern #Ethiopia, without access to family or legal counsel.
Abay went on a three-day hunger strike in October 2023 to protest poor detention conditions.
In January, Abay was transferred back to the capital Addis Ababa, where he remains detained on terrorism related charges.
Authorities should release Abay and all journalists detained in connection to their work.

In late April 2023, #Ethiopia-n journalist Gobeze Sisay fled his country, fearing arrest.
On May 6, 2023, he was arrested in #Djibouti and transferred back to Ethiopia under murky circumstances.
His case demonstrates the risks that Ethiopian journalists face, even in exile.
Gobeze remains in pre-trial detention, facing terrorism charges. He should be freed unconditionally.
