Economic uncertainty is testing our countries. BRICS has already reshaped
the global conversation. Our responsibility now is to help shape a fairer international system and widen economic opportunity.
Wishing our students across Ethiopia a successful new academic year!
Our young generation is Ethiopia’s greatest wealth. Learn with curiosity, pursue excellence, and build the skills to shape the Ethiopia of tomorrow. What we build today is for generations to come. As custodians of that future, you are vital to carry forward Ethiopia’s proud legacy of civilization.
To our teachers, thank you for inspiring and shaping the generation that will build Ethiopia’s future. Wishing all in our education sector a successful year ahead.
Together with @IsmailOguelleh and @AlikoDangote, to day we announce a major strategic investment connecting Damerjog in Djibouti to Dewele in Ethiopia through a new refined petroleum products pipeline, supported by storage terminals at both ends.
The project will be developed through a partnership between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and the Dangote Group. This landmark infrastructure will reduce logistics costs and delays, strengthen energy security, and enhance the efficiency and resilience of the Ethiopia–Djibouti corridor.
More than a pipeline, this is an investment in future growth, regional integration and a more secure shared economic future—with African investment at its center.
Together Djibouti, Ethiopia and the Dangote Group will develop a 120-kilometre pipeline
connecting Damerjog to Dewele, with more than one million cubic meters of combined storage capacity at the two ends.
I have learnt with profound sorrow of the passing of Mr. Hafidh Ameir Hassan, First Gentleman of the United Republic of Tanzania and husband of Her Excellency President Dr. @SuluhuSamia .
On behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, I extend our deepest condolences to Her Excellency, her family, and the people of Tanzania.
Our thoughts and sympathies remain with her family and the people of Tanzania during this difficult time.
Ethiopia and the United Nations: A shared history. A shared future. To live together in peace!
In honour of the United Nations' journey of eight decades, Ethiopia has published a special commemorative stamp collection under the theme: "𝗧𝗼 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲." The four stamps tell our shared story, from signing the UN Charter in San Francisco in 1945, to deploying peacekeepers to the Congo and hosting the first-ever UN Security Council meeting on African soil. Distributed to 192 countries through the International Postal Union, they are a lasting tribute to a legacy that belongs not to one moment, but to every generation.
We also take this occasion to extend our deep appreciation to the United Nations’ Secretary-General H.E. António Guterres and his dedicated team for their tireless leadership in advancing peace, development, and human rights during one of the most challenging periods in modern history.
The UN endures because nations keep choosing dialogue over division.
Ethiopia Always Will!
I received a courtesy visit from the Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher T. Landau @DeputySecState, alongside the Commander of U.S. Africa Command, General Dagvin Li Anderson. I appreciated the warm and constructive engagement, which underscored the importance of continued collaboration and mutual respect.
Ethiopia’s National Wheat Program is anchored in the goal to shift the country to a self-sufficient producer by increasing productivity, expanding irrigated cultivation, strengthening seed systems, and supporting smallholder farmers in key regions. During the first two quarters of the 2018 Ethiopian calendar, total national wheat production has already reached 126.69 million quintals, excluding output from irrigated wheat.
I say well done and keep the momentum to our farmers!
The overall city corridors approach is giving us great hope for the future. We began with four corridors in the first phase, followed by eight in the second. Today, we reviewed the completed Addis International Convention Center–Goro–VIP Airport corridor, a 12.74 km stretch that includes over 29 km of pedestrian walkways and 15.27 km of dedicated bike lanes.
This corridor features expanded road lanes, a new alternative road from Goro to Bole Airport, and extensive riverside development along the route. It also integrates seven sports centers, car parks, taxi and bus terminals, cafés, restaurants, public toilets, and much more. These developments have created jobs, enhanced accessibility, and strengthened the city’s infrastructure.
In every sphere, Ethiopia continues to expand. Our journey toward prosperity will not face hurdles or come to a halt. This achievement reflects a different vision and a renewed work culture that has made it all possible. While half of the city has been addressed so far, there are still areas we are committed to transforming.
Congratulations to all Ethiopians on another milestone in our journey toward food security and agricultural transformation. Today, we signed the Fertilizer Complex Shareholder Investment Agreement between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Dangote Group. With an investment of $2.5 billion, this mega project will produce up to 3 million metric tons of fertilizer annually, placing Ethiopia among the largest producers globally.
This project will create jobs locally, ensure a reliable fertilizer supply for our farmers who have long faced challenges, and mark a decisive step in our path to food sovereignty. It strengthens Ethiopia’s competitiveness across the continent and reflects our commitment to executing strategic investments that serve our people and our future.
Following today’s signing, we will officially launch the project on site. We have started this journey, and we will finish it for our farmers, for our economy, and for Ethiopia’s future.
