Did you know that beer supports over 33 million jobs globally? In addition to breweries, the industry creates jobs in agriculture, transportation, and more.
WBA’s International Envoy the Honourable @FifieldMitch explains the impact the industry has on local communities.
This week, Budapest Lectures asked a defining question about our time: Is the global order transforming?
Former Australian UN Ambassador @FifieldMitch examined the future of multilateral institutions, UN reform, EU strategic dilemmas, Trump’s negotiation style, and the room for maneuver of small and middle powers in a more openly power driven world.
The takeaway was realism without fatalism. The rules based order is not collapsing, but power politics is becoming more explicit. For smaller and non nuclear states, rules still matter, yet alliances and strategic diversification remain essential.
Honoured to address the @MCC_Budapest conference at Károli Gáspár University on the legal and geopolitical consequences of the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion on climate change and state obligations.

Great to be invited to the “Budapest Lectures” to talk about Trump 2.0 and implications for geopolitics & @UN.
Thanks to @MCC_Budapest for bringing me to Hungary.
Important work by Co-Chairs @UN Global Dialogue on #AI Governance. Both Ambassadors deeply engaged. Tech is always changing, but the issues follow a pattern…
Both Co-Chairs of the UN Global Dialogue on #AIGovernance 🇪🇪🇸🇻 are in New Delhi 🇮🇳 to kick off the #AIImpactSummit.
Looking forward to constructive exchanges on the future of AI and global cooperation.
In 2018 as Australian Communications Minister, I legislated a world-first regime to target the non-consensual sharing of intimate images. Giving power to our eSafety Commissioner to issue ‘removal notices’ plus criminal penalties of upto 7 years prison & fines of upto $500,000.
Non-consensual sharing of intimate images is a serious form of digital violence affecting women & girls.
UNODC provides specialized training for law enforcement & promotes tech solutions like hash-sharing tools to detect & remove harmful content incl. AI-generated images.#16Days
A tremendous few days in DC @FedSoc Annual Convention representing Australia as President @AustralianLLS. Great discussions on challenges to the rule of law, judicial independence and key institutions.
Wonderful to catch up @UN in New York with my good friend Indonesia Deputy Foreign Minister “Tata” Arrmanatha Nasir. A great representative of his country and good friend of Australia.
Good to be in Mexico City as International Envoy @global_brewers to discuss the positive economic, employment and social contribution of the industry with colleagues from around the world.
🇲🇹 The Permanent Mission of Malta congratulates Ambassador @_VanessaFrazier , former PR of Malta to the UN, on her appointment as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict. We wish her every success in this important role. 🇺🇳🌍
So good as @CSIWorld Advisory Panel Member to have the opportunity to congratulate Hayley van Loon on her recent appointment as CEO. An impressive leader doing important work globally to combat crime.
As Co-Chair of GA Revitalization in 2023 with @FifieldMitch, we worked to make women visible in the Rules of Procedure of the @UN General Assembly. It didn’t happen then, but El Salvador 🇸🇻kept pushing.
Last week #UNGA80 approved it: feminine pronouns & gender-specific nouns in all 6 UN languages.
Reading the first Spanish edition, I was deeply moved. This is not just symbolic, it corrects decades of invisibility of women in multilateral diplomacy.
