These went for FIVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Bidder, who are you. I must know. I have seen only three cut-and-sewn knit fabric garments for the entirety of the 18th c through 1870. I must know more about the apparent bolts of knit fabric available pre-Sears catalog.

@TheGloveCollect @Fashion_Museum @GloversLiveryCo Interesting! Are you saying the beads here were embroidered on to machine-knit fabric? In most beaded knitting the beads are strung on to the thread before knitting, making machine knitting impossible.

Sunglasses with dark blue lenses, 1860-1900. Science Museum.

Blue tinted lenses indicate these spectacles were for outdoor use. They protected from bright sunlight. They are a Victorian version of the sunglasses we wear today. Prescription lenses help correct vision.
