If you want to move our state forward and implement conservative policies that help Michigan workers and families you’ll FightLikeHall to get the job done!
Gotta hand it to these guys. Pretending to have momentum while things are not going well is an art form.
Spin: “This is what momentum looks like," House Minority Leader Ranjeev Puri, D-Canton Township, said in a statement.
Facts:
Total raised for the Cycle: House GOP: $6,681,000
House Dem: $3,765,000
Total Donors:
House GOP: almost 8,000
House Dem: less than 2,000
Cash on hand:
House GOP: $6,262,000
House Dem: $2,922,000
Total incumbents departing:
House GOP: Less than 15%
House Dem: More than 25%
No one…not donors, not the Press, not the Caucus rank-and-file, should take anything these people say seriously after a prepared comment like that. If I was a House Dem member and saw Rep Puri say THIS was momentum, I’d have to wonder - what does he consider a failure of leadership? How bad does it have to be for him to acknowledge things aren’t going well?
At least we have this live look-in at Ranjeev Puri’s political briefing for his Caucus this month:
Value for Dollars isn’t complicated, it’s just hard when the Democrats are involved. But the relentless work to protect the taxpayers had a major victory today.
The Whitmer administration and majority House Republicans settle the lawsuit over the fate of the work projects House Republicans voted to cancel. All of the disputed funding returns to the fund from which it was appropriated; none stays with the projects in question.
Another BIG WIN in court. Gov. Whitmer and MEDC just caved and agreed to return the $370 million in Democrat slush funds.
They tried to shove all this waste, fraud and abuse into slush funds, and I said no way. Our Budget committee took a stand and BLOCKED it. Then the Democrats tried to sneak it out the door illegally, and I sued them to stop that.
Now they finally agreed with my demand. That money is coming back to the state and we can find a much better use for it to protect the taxpayers and give them better value.
Thank you to the Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee for having the backbone to take a stand and put a stop to this. Their vote to block the work project designation was valid, and the money will be put into the General Fund just as the statute requires. And just like it always should have been.
I predicted this on the day we blocked all this wasteful spending back in December ⬇️

Garlin Gilchrist with the big win Sunday, as predicted. But his first step towards Secretary of State starts with CorruptCurtis Hertel refusing any transparency on Garlin’s endorsement election (h/t Beth Leblanc Det News):
“The state Democratic Party declined Sunday to disclose the vote totals for its nominees at the convention...”
Republicans put them on the screen at their convention for all to see, including the media, and everyone could verify that Anthony Forlini had won.
Garlin, tell CorruptCurtis Hertel to release the results!

@CraigDMauger Hmm. You sure about that? This week’s “Tweet of the Week” is a response to 2 tweets (featured prominently in the Tweet of the Week screenshot) by none other than…Craig Mauger.
So important that this got done for all of us. Many thanks to Representative Linting for being a big part of these negotiations and this final resolution. When Rylee Linting is working on legislation, things get done.
Close the revolving door of Legislator->Lobbyist!!! Sam Singh retention bill came up in conversation multiple times, but the State Senate failed to act. Now word is out that he is leaving the State Senate at the end of the year to become a lobbyist. Many were hoping he stayed, but after the big endorsement for Darrin Camilleri for Democrat Leader, it must have been too much for Sam. The silver lining? Maybe now Winnie Brinks will move the House Republican package that eliminates the revolving door of legislator to lobbyist. It’s certainly a common sense solution to anyone who’s not a politician!

Speaker Hall and House Republicans standing up for Taxpayer Dollars: 3
Democrat addiction to Pork spending on Waste Fraud and Abuse: 0
The Court of Appeals has rejected the state's attempt to appeal an injunction that blocks agencies from disbursing work project cash canceled by House Republicans.
The appellate panel denied the application to appeal because it was not persuaded immediate review was necessary.
After Ghost employees were “not a thing”, they were a thing - and hundreds of millions in wasted taxpayer money was was able to be recovered in the state budget. Then fraud “wasn’t a thing” until it was - and the budget process was opened to sunlight under the HEAT (Hall Ethics Accountability and Transparency) plan. Permanent Local Road funding couldn’t get done - until it did. The House couldn’t cut “work project” slush funds - until they did and a Court backed them up. The list is far longer than just those items….it goes on and on. Not surprised then to see this around Lansing this week…
Value for dollars starts with the Legislature having proper oversight of taxpayer resources. The AG opinion clearly was a pork solution in search of a political problem. The elimination of $1.2b+ in Waste Fraud and Abuse in the most recent budget clearly shows the Legislature can fund critical items AND give better oversight and value for dollars to taxpayers. And with the recent shortfall in the 2027 revenue estimates, this $645m in eliminated pork abuse, fraud, and waste will be helpful in closing that gap.

I’ve said all along that we were going to win this easily, because any fair court would rule in the House Republicans’ favor.
While ultimate Lansing insiders and Senate Democrats are desperate to protect their pork spending, House Republicans are fighting for hardworking taxpayers.
This ruling has stopped Dana Nessel’s bogus legal opinion in its tracks, forcing the Whitmer administration to stop illegally spending their slush fund dollars.
Value for taxpayer dollars starts with an active Legislature that reviews spending and exercises its constitutional duty. Eliminating spending of taxpayer money on DEI Festivals, tampons in boys bathrooms, and subsidies for illegal aliens among many other ridiculous items isn’t a constitutional crisis - it’s the job the Republican House was elected to do. It would be an actual crisis if the Attorney General’s obviously political opinion was allowed to gut the supervision of the People’s resources by the People’s House.
