Fight The Pipe Ireland is our community's response to the destruction of 2000 acres of land by the laying of Irish Waters pipeline across our farmlands.

How much is the average industrial pension these days?
Asking for a friend.🤪🤪

Dublin’s pipes are so full of cracks that they're vulnerable to “water ingress”.
This is when dirty water (from under the streets, in the ground around the pipes) seeps INTO the pipes delivering water.
Extra chlorine is needed to counteract the health risks.

Today is #WorldWaterDay
Dublin has crazy leakage because its pipes are such a mess
#IrishWater says it has a 1% replacement target but its own data shows that in 2018 it was replacing them at just 0.3%
At that rate some of Dublin’s pipes won’t be touched for another 300 years
Chart published by the BBC.
The 47% leakage for Ireland is not even the whole story: it is just NETWORK leakage i.e. #IrishWater responsibility. It doesn't include household leaks.
Householders leak far less water than Irish Water does, but still bring TOTAL leakage to over 50%
No response, Dublin Chamber of Commerce?
Can't explain why your embarrassingly inaccurate article promoting the bizarre Shannon-to-Dublin water pipe made statements that were flat out FALSE?
This is EUR1.3bn of PUBLIC funds. This matters.

Another sky-rocketing bill for the tax-payer: the proposed Shannon-to-Dublin water pipeline.
In 2011 they said it would cost: **EUR 720 MILLION**.
By 2018 they said it would cost **EUR 1,300 MILLION**
... and it hasn't even gone to planning yet
#FixThePipes@MurphyEoghan
So why don't you actually PRIORITISE replacing pipes? Your pipe replacement rate is abysmal. If you stick with your 2018 replacement rate it will be 300 years before some of Dublin's pipes are even touched - and the pipes get worse with every cold snap and dry spell. #FixThePipes
The @GraemeMcQ@DubCham story pushing #IrishWater's ShannonPipe said 80% of Zurich’s water comes “straight from natural springs”. False: 70% is from Lake Zurich. CHECK YOUR FACTS: WE DO.
Zurich has good water pipes, yet renews them around 5x FASTER than Dublin.

Looking forward toThursday evening when I will be speaking about Ireland's decrepit water pipes and the proposed Shannon to Dublin water pipeline.

Prof Edgar Morgenroth of DCU says that #IrishWater should be investing in major repairs in Dublin.
Fifty percent of water going through the mains system in Dublin does not get to the tap, he said.

Fish pass at Athlone weir on the middle reaches of the River Shannon was high and dry this week, with all the flood gates open. It is very difficult for the few salmon that reach here to pass this obstacle. We need new fish and #eel passes on all these weirs on the River Shannon.
if you are interested in attending #swimablelimerick River Shannon to Dublin pipeline campaign meeting @OrmstonHouse on Tuesday 11th Sept, 7.30pm please book a space here as we have limited capacity: https://t.co/KLJKK9jklv
Thread: Why people 'ratted out' their neighbours during the hosepipe ban. One resident in Cork said their neighbour was using water to wash their yacht. All these from a database obtained under #FOIA from #IrishWater
We invite all interested in the proposed Shannon to Dublin pipeline abstraction scheme to join us on Tuesday 11th September, 7.30pm @OrmstonHouse for a campaign meeting. We will be joined by Ger Siney from The River Shannon Protection Alliance. All welcome
