Another terrible cornering job by Ben Davies; I get the feeling the guy is just gambling... because he certainly isn't a bad trainer. But to see your fighter leading 7–8 rounds to nil—plus a knockdown—and not advise him to ease off, avoid chasing the knockout, and perhaps concede a round or two while fighting off the back foot with more movement and head slips... instead, he let him throw everything into the eighth round and gas out. A terrible, terrible performance by Davies. The fight belonged to Itauma—he was brilliant—but even the most talented fighters need their trainer to tell them when not to keep the pedal to the metal and to coast through a couple of rounds when they have such a massive lead.
