@killer_drood We're talking about the Hijab (full coverage), that is a far stronger signal of orthodoxy than a for exampel a half-moon necklace.
We would instead need to look for mark that decrease probability.
@killer_drood But you always ignore the deliberate part of what we talk about. Wearing the hijab is an deliberate action. Just like going to chruch once a week would make anyone believe you are a christian.
The man in the picture could record a porno, but most likely he's a priest.
@killer_drood Yes, group stats ALONE don't prove a specific individual's beliefs. Hijab is a voluntary religious signal of higher orthodoxy, not random like skin color. Data shows it correlates with greater Sharia support. Rational people update on that evidence.
@killer_drood Patterns + visible signals (hijab = higher religiosity) = better predictions, not "stereotyping."
I don't assume every individual, I assign probabilities. You assign zero info value to strong indicators.
That's the unrealistic position.
@killer_drood "nor that all Muslims today share those views" -> current polls (Pew etc).
Large % of Muslims support Sharia law with its discrimination.
Hijab marks higher religiosity = higher odds. "Diverse" is true but irrelevant when patterns matter for integration & policy.
@killer_drood Group stats give rational priors on individuals. Hijab strongly signals orthodoxy/religiosity, it links observance to Sharia support. Judge individuals by actions, but ignore patterns at your peril. "Not all" isn't an argument, it's evasion.
@killer_drood Islam is political and extreme, and that’s what makes it so dangerous. For 1.300 years, the Muslim slave trade enslaved millions of Africans & Europeans under Islamic rule, yet it only ended when Muslim powers were defeated or pressured into submission by Europeans
@killer_drood Hijab is strongly associated with orthodox, religiously observant Muslims. Secular Muslims are significantly more likely to not wear it.
Secular Muslims can (and often do) still support Sharia.
@killer_drood Maybe someone just likes it because the SS symbol reminds them of KISS. You can't judge an individual due to that according to your logic!
@killer_drood Orthodox muslims come from this area. Muslims view Mohammed as the perfect exemplar, whose life defines how Sharia should be lived and applied.
Individuals that wear the SS symbols might be fans of KISS, but let's be honest you would NEVER say "don't blame all" in that case!
@killer_drood But individuals that follow and honor that ideology should be called out for it. You honestly think most muslims in Hijab are sekular? Genuine question, not trying to sound rude.
