Divine darshan of fierce Chandi—
Ma Chhinnamasta (छिन्नमस्ता)🔥

Once Bhagwati went to bathe in the Mandakini River with Her companions Jaya and Vijaya. After bathing, hunger made Her body turn black. Her companions also asked for food. Devi asked them to wait a little.

Later, at the humble insistence of Her companions, to satisfy their hunger, She severed Her own head. The severed head fell into the Devi's hands and three streams emerged from Her neck. She began directing two of those streams toward Her companions. From that moment, She came to be known as Chhinnamastika.

Considering the form and nature of Ma Chhinnamasta, Her worship is performed by tantriks for the purpose of acquiring tantra and destroying enemies. Other devotees are advised not to perform special worship or sadhana without proper guidance.
