Ponette (1996)
A sweet French film delving into the concept of death of a parent in young children and religion and god. Very well written in capturing kids mentality and dialog while complementing it with filmmaking that makes us view the world from their perspective...
I didn't connect with the story and its protagonist that it left me frustrated and apathetic from its overuse of dance and song which some felt slightly forced.
The Testament of Ann Lee (2025)
A nonconventional film that is very good in its aesthetics but in the end, it didn't do it for me. I felt the narrative to be its weakest part, as it depended heavily on the voice over narration to tell its story and honestly...
but ultimately you don't really learn much about the person and you found out why at the end. I feel, mostly, the writing has let this film down, given its potential.
Lee (2023)
Unfortunately, this appeared completely flat to me though you appreciate what it is trying to go for, while being supported by strong cast. For a film about the second world war, it provides nothing new and as a biopic, it starts like most films
Celebrating Fellini, Cinema Paradiso and Hollywood, it was just parts that seem to drag it down, making it not very exciting and trying too hard to be super nice and with no shortness of well known talents.
Jay Kelly (2025)
A heartwarming, feelgood film engaging with some smart parts. Looking more like an Italian film than an American, still I didn't feel it to Noah best film even though he seems to pour almost everything into it.
