Today's film recommendation is an extreme cinema psychological horror, Julia Decournou's Titane, currently streaming on @channel4. Not since Prince's Little Red Corvette have automobiles been this disturbingly sexualised. Let me know what you think of this one in the comments!
Xmas has come early, as today's recommendation is The Holdovers, currently streaming on @Channel4! It's sad, much like Christmas itself. Let me know what you think of this one in the comments!
Today's film recommendation is Reality, currently free on @Channel4 . A dramatisation of the transcript of the arrest of Reality Winner, who was accused of leaking NSA secrets. A real life story realised in an increasingly surreal way. Let me know what you think in the comments.
Still don't get the pre-vitriol for TSR. Sorkin is an average director but a decent screenwriter even at his worst and the real-life stories he picks are always ones worth telling. The tale of how Facebook destroyed journalism on the way to setting up Jan6th? Try make that dull!
Today's film recommendation is @BartfromRaw's The Imposter, now streaming on @Channel4. A brilliant doc about a French con artist who tricked an American family into believing he was their long-lost son, despite looking nothing like him.Let me know what you think in the comments!
@scorsesepoint I love these odd rhythms in Goodfellas. Makes it all so real. Another example is his repeated "what did I tell you?! What did I tell you?!" after the Lufthansa heist.

@Vanessid I studied Brecht in my degree. I understand class and imperialism. But it chooses to go about its ideas in an incredibly annoying + stupid way. It makes good points in it's (decentish) final 30 minutes, but chooses to package them into a 2 hour film instead of a half hour short.

the last thing I’ll say about the critical reception of DIGGER is THE SOCIAL RECKONING will almost certainly be worse and more offensive on an artistic, industrial, and political level and not see nearly the same level of vitriol from the critics.
Love takes like this, because you know it's unadulterated by decades of cineaste discourse. I mean, I LOVE decades-long cineaste discourse, but there's something more primal and honest about this kind of take.
