That Dynamite closing angle featuring Mariah May betraying Toni Storm is one we could look back on as being important in the grand scheme of televised American women’s pro wrestling. They pushed the envelope, not by desperately trying to be edgy, but with masterful storytelling & character work. The scene they created was disturbing, gory & captivating at the same time. It challenged the outdated attitudes & philosophies many have been conditioned to hold towards women’s wrestling storytelling due to the dumb, old men who have ruled over it. Toni & Mariah should be very proud of the story they’re telling. AEW should be commended for providing the platform & unrestricted ability to tell it.

That Mariah May/Toni Storm angle was excellent. I lost myself in it. As May won, I internally thought “ah they’re gonna split soon, I’ve loved them together” then Mariah turns on Toni & I found myself angry at her. That’s when wrestling works. When you get lost in it. Bravo. 👏
