Power bottom intern at LA Review of Books here. I moved to Los Feliz after watching I Love LA after moving to Bushwick after watching Girls in recovery. Whoops! Week one had to help my all-female friend group evacuate so they didn't burn alive. Then they stopped going out bc a schizo tweaker spat on us in line after the fascist bouncer at T**ants of the T*ees rejected him. The night before someone bestie's car window during my bday party at Taix and stole all my gifts (thank God I don't drive!). Not exactly "living truvada loca" lol but the worst part is THE Spencer Pratt from THE HILLS is running for mayor on a platform to fix homelessness public safety and corruption instead of things that really matter, like Gaza. Who tf actually thinks a city as random and weird and broken as Los Angeles should be governed by someone with a background in reality?
If he wins, I'll have no choice but to move back to Mamdani's paradise even tho Pitchfork went suiy and bartending at Basement isn't the most convenient gig for my celibacy arc rn. I thought about London after watching Industry and reading that life-changing Lena Dunham essay in the New Yorker but if they can't handle Hasan they definitely can't handle me 😭
Before casting your vote today, pause for a moment and think how it will affect real angelenos like me
Woke 2.0 seems to be when you believe all the same "woke 1.0" idiotic beliefs but with a sleazy layer of plausible deniability and a willingness to throw your old friends under the bus for being "too weird and extreme" if it's momentarily socially advantagous
Let me explain the universe where Pratt doesn’t enter the race.
-Raman makes the runoff.
-Ro Khanna breaks with the party and endorses her.
-Mamdani, AOC and the squad follow.
-The “media” rallies around Raman as the LA Mamdani and we get nothing but fluff pieces.
Raman wins in November and LA becomes an even bigger shithole.
Pratt already saved us from all of that.
What really happened? What does it mean? Who is to blame and what signs have emerged from the burning of Los Angeles?

@Cernovich You’d think by now the most frontline guys in that industry would be sounding way smarter due to their first adopter exposure or whatever it’s called but instead they sound embarrassingly uniformly gay and the ones who were interesting before have noticeably decayed

Choked down some tears and finally returned to the ashen ruins of Pacific Palisades for a very personal tour that begins on the street where I was taught elemental truths about life, authority, belief and the Holocaust.
