It's not just a give and go

Run this side by side against an indicating bum like DeAndre Ayton

Ayton will flail his arms wildly so that every human on earth knows he wants the ball right then and there (and thinks he's open and/or able to create)

This dude is almost always shorter than his Oppos but "runs routes" like an elite WR in the NFL

Don't put your hands up at all until the very last moment necessary to be able to catch the pass

That limits the amount of time the defenders have to see it, recognize it and then react (to try and stop it)

THAT is why he is OP with his offball moves and repossessions

It also adds the benefit of doing it against NBA talent so those defenders will have a reaction to the pass/catch but it's late which gives him a quick window of opportunity to take an easy bucket or relay/touch pass while they're still slightly behind in the sequence

Y'all watch this and think it's just pass to cut to pass and Layup as a standard "give and go" and claim the OP "don't know ball" as if he's never seen a GnG before

You'll need to differentiate between AI that start the game as AI vs the human-replaced AI

Cuz if you're playing the game on 1 of your SG Builds and then lag out or quit, your AI will have your jump shot

The rest of it though bugs me in offline game modes where I have to deal with Steph Curry bricking wide open 3s from 25 feet out just so, like, IDK, dudes can't abuse Starting 5 with the Warriors or, perhaps, that AI in Events/Rec/etc aren't OP
I don't like it

But the point you make about spacing and tendencies, etc..

Again, if it is a human-replaced AI, it was coded to play within the parameters of the tendencies of the human it replaced

So if some dumdum made a SG that never actually shoots the ball and just cuts to the basket 40 times per possession and doesn't clear the paint fast enough despite the cut never once being open, the AI they become when they rage quit will do much of the same

But even the TRUE AI type shit in offline game modes like MyCareer NBA games play like absolutely brain dead morons MOST of the time

I get to the corner on the break WIDE OPEN and instead of filling lanes properly (other corner or basket) they run to my corner with the only break defender before the outlet can get to me

So then you pause with the ball in your hand to try and read what they're going to do and they do some other weirdness

The NBA MyCareer stuff is supposed to be coded off of NBA player tendencies but their spacing and shot decisions are often terrible, too

You literally have to allow for Automatic Playcalling with Team Communication and play diagram visuals just to force them to not always make the worst possible choices in terms of spacing and game flow

So MY biggest issue with that is THIS GAME is LITERALLY teaching the next generations how to be bad at both basketball and video game basketball rather than having a "Mind The Game" LeBron/Luka/Jokic/etc type mindset to game IQ

I know this cuz, like you Koza, I've played A LOT of Solo Rec the last few years and when I point out poor spacing and decision making to my random teammates, they'll often (eventually) indicate they play the way 2k has taught them to play

All for the sake of not giving advantages to cheesers and cheaters? Those losers are still going to take advantage of everything else anyway so let's just give all forms of AI more reasonable logic bases on both ends of the floor
